I did 11k this morning...first real long run I have done for a while. Just need to keep at it now. 5 weeks until the half

Great job Sally! I've done 11k err... never! Don't worry about missing days, you need at least one rest day a week to give your body time to recover and repair muscle etc.

I did 9k on Saturday morning and had a nice rest day yesterday. Did about 5k this morning. Am also doing the Nike 10k at the end of the month so I need to keep it up!

Back from holiday and hoping to get back into running - no way I'm going to be fit enough to do the 10k in Sept though. Really struggling with the thought of getting back out there to be honest.. good intentions are going nowhere! :o

    Hi redsquirrel80,

When in Sept is your 10k run? It doesn't seem like much time, but you can get fit enough for it. Be prepared to out in some hard work though!

    You can do it!

Hey Red, you have approx 5 weeks and I think you should be able to do it in that time. Do you read runners world? there is a good 4 week training plan in there this month.

So come on Maz, how did you get on??

Will be out for a slow 30 min run in the morning. Its not the running that I find hard its the getting up at 6am so that I am back in time for DH to leave for work at 7am.

right I really need to get an early night
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well my runchum called off on me again, even though i was driving to her village 7 miles away, she was too tired.... the ironic thing is she is always the one trying to pin me down to particular days/times as she has a busy schedule, but once we agree times and days invariably she cancels.... now don't get me wrong, i have called off but never without a reason, not just because i've been tired....... grrrrrrrrrr!!!

So anyhow, i bit the bullet and went out for a run on my own... Erin came along on her bike, so i managed 2 miles, not sure of times but i did have 3 walk breaks... i'm not going to beat myself up about it....

Other news in the land of maz....
I was on the daily chat thread and we were discussing swimming, i love to swim but i'm not very good at it, i can do lengths but pretty slowly and ineffectively... i.e. if i do 15 lengths then i have had a good days swimming...

I don't know how to submerge without water going up my nose! so have decided to go for some lessons at local pool....lessons "for those who aren't petrified/can swim a little - Adults" starting thu 28th for 7 weeks, cost £35....hopefully that will be enough for me to conquer my problems and make my swimming more worthwhile and better excercise......

Also Erin can swim like a fish already at 7, so she is leaqving me behind in the pool... she can breathe and submerge properly, i've actually asked her to show me how but she's not a very good teacher... bless her!!

When you go for your lessons Maz, explain about the problems you have with submerging and they'll quite possibly point you in the direction of where you can buy one of the nasal clips so you take away all those problems.

    Good luck with the swimming.

i did get pointers to one on ebay from our Sally, which i am going to get. I had one before but it wasn't working for me, but the one on ebay looks "tighter" and less likely to slip off my nose!

I'm hoping the lessons will improve my swimming anyway as i have a lazy breast stroke leg and my front crawl is laughable! I do a mean back stroke mind you!!

i will use a clip if i really cannot manage without one but with a bit of luck they will teach me how to do it without one as well.

thanks for the tip Sue UU :D

I honestly don't know if I can get there in five weeks, not feeling very positive at the mo :o Did plan to get up for a run this morning to kick start me but had a rubbish night's sleep. Blah.

Good to hear everyone else is getting on well :)
