Hi P, arsed kick - consider it done!!!0
-
Wow, this thread took off didn't it?! Sorry I'm unable to read 9 pages in my lunch hour to catch up on what everyones up to. I shall try and read daily from now on.
I saw a bit about trying early morning running. I've been considering this, but it means I have to go jogging at 5:45am! I'm seriously not sure I can do that. But if it keeps my evenings a little freer then I'm willing to try it once.
Saw a bit of advice earlier on about increasing time rather than distance. I'm thinking maybe I could adapt this a bit, and try and keep the time the same (approx 38 - 40 minutes at the moment for 3.5km jog/walk) but increase the time actually jogging. I've been running lengths of a field for the last couple of weeks...not everyones cup of tea, but I like having constant markers and knowing how far I've gone exactly. I may attempt to run an entire length (0.25km) in one go (have been doing 2/3rds of a length so far). Even if every other jogging bit is increased to a whole length then that's something.
Mind you I keep setting these goals and can never achieve them.
So, Pania, when is your next run due?0 -
Well done cnoelj on your run, I don't think I would be able to go out at all the next day!
Everyone is doing so well, I'm like pania I run better in the evenings so I will be out later on. Had a nice rest day yesterday even though I felt like going out I'm glad I didn't because I was quite tired. Aiming to go for 4 miles today, then think about what to do for the rest on the week as 10km is less than 2 weeks away!0 -
Findingmyownway, you gotta keep going once you've done the race for life!! all that effort to let it go again!! I think to be honest that you will enjoy it more and more the fitter you get as it gets easier!! Stick around here if you need inspiration hon.

That sounds great, i remember chatting about running with you fat free wanabees thread a while ago and it sounds like you have really improved since then! keep going, its great when the rewards keep getting bigger and bigger
If you REALLY feel you never achieve the goals then maybe set more short term ones for a while - even if its only ' i will run 4 times this week' . Better than letting yourself get disheartened.0 -
Next run is this evening. Got to go to the in law to be's house and they got a lovely run near them so will do that. thanks for the kick up the bum BA, got your pm and will respond imminently!! :T

Thanks for checking in helping hubby and yes i am amazed how well it has taken off! has been brilliant and really kept some minds off stressing about the shi**y money issues!!:j
Try jogging one length walking back, jog 2/3rds walk back, jog half, walk back, jog 1/3. Bit like interval training that and you should feel great at the end of it and the decreasing distance means you still feel asthough you can do it. Let us know how it goes. x
Been out on appointments most of the day today and have managed to avoid stopping in a petrol garage for my biggest sin of all REDBULL!! i'm sure thats contributed to the weight!!
Let us know how the run goes tonight evab and everyone else on here, noticed a few names not posted for a while so may need a chase up shortly!!!:rotfl:

Thanks. I think the confusion is my fault because I messed up the quote from you yesterday. I hope it's cooler tomorrow - 28 degrees here today ! I thought of another plus for carrying on running - its free :j so for DFW got to be a good idea (except I might need better trainers if I'm going to carry on?)Debt at lightbulb moment (Dec 06) £60,502
Debt Jan 11 £18010

Yes running is an inexpensive activity kazl, but we do need to give some thought in investing in running shoes, in order to help prevent injuries and blisters. The more running you expect to do in the future the more important this becomes
I would usually expect to pay around £70. Anymore than that you are paying for bells and whistles. For running you need the shoes to be functional for their purpose rather than to make a fashion statement.
Try and go to a specialist running shop which is able to observe your running action and suggest a shoe which is appropriate for you, after assessing where you would need the most cushioning.
At the place I go to they put you on a treadmill and record your running action.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -

also, if you go to a proper running shop take your old shoes with you. they can help to assess your gait and running style. i can recommend "up&running" which has stores around the country.0
