Hi P - welcome back, hope you had a good weekend.

I was very brave and entered two races yesterday, a 5km one in July and a 10km at the beginning of Sept - Should get me ready for North Run. Also going to enter the local fell race, me and friend decided if we are last we shall simply sit on a wall before the finishing line until everyone's gone home and then pass the line :rotfl:

Well done cnoelj on a fantastic run.

And well done blackangel for entering those runs.

Sorry if this is a bit graphic for a mixed board, men may wish to look away now, but do you girls run when you've got your period? Only my legs normally feel like jelly for a day or two and I'm wondering whether it's a good idea.

    Hi Seaxwyn

I do normally run when it's the time of the month as it makes a huge difference to the stomach cramps and I've found it makes me feel better. It is personal choice though, if you don't feel great when running with your period maybe you just shouldn't, and get back to it when you feel better.

I'm sure I read something about this in a magazine, I will check when I get back home and let you know.

    Can I look back now?

blackangel 5k yes, 10k yes, half marathon yes. Fell Running -yikes!

Actually I have never really thought about it. It just sounds very demanding. What sort of distance will you be running for it.

This morning I have been on a 30 minute easy 'recovery' run. Just to take out some of the stiffness and to remind myself that running is supposed to be enjoyable

My God - you have run a half marathon and now you have an "easy" run, it would be my excuse to not run for weeks :rotfl:

Fell running is 5 miles (I think!) which is to The Lantern Pike - I prefer the scrambling term. We wondered whether we should do something a bit different and out of our comfort zone
  • Thanks for the mapping link. It says I did 5.3Km yesterday which isn’t too bad considering it was hilly and of course the intense heat. Legs are feeling the strain this morning.

Do you all run alone? Or with friends?
  • wow fell running sounds great - i love the idea of scrambling up rocks and stuff. any races you'd recommend for beginners?
  • Morning guys and gals!!

Havent run this weekend because I had that wedding in Brum (not easy pania!). Will be going out on Wednesday, 6-7 miles i think with the club.

How come I havent got that Pm Blackangel!!!!

you ok SW? hope it went well. Very good reason for not running, that one. The run later will be great stress relief and will do you the world of good. x

Hiya BA, Good for you entering those runs!! Fell running!! Not on your nelly!!mucho admirado to you for doing it. (not sure if thats really italian or any language but it sounded good!)

ok, here goes a moan/rant so my apologies. Mother bless her heart gave me £20 to go to town and buy a new top over the weekend. Tried on all my own sizes and nothing would fit. When i was in the changing room it hit me how much my body shape had changed and how much i hate it. So what should have been a pleasurable treat by my mum turned into a depressing experience.:-(
So anyway, i really need a boot up the bum if i haven't gone out for a run this evening and i expect/want you guys to come down on me like a ton of bricks if i don't!! (is that ok?) i don't want to be overweight i want to be the svelte little slip that ran the marathon last year. Oh how things change!!

Seaxwyn i find i can't nearly run as well as usual during that time but just a gentle plod makes you feell good for getting out there and relieves the effects on the body some what!! but no if you feel naff don't do it as you won't enjoy it and it will be a demotivating experience.
Findingmyownway, you gotta keep going once you've done the race for life!! all that effort to let it go again!! I think to be honest that you will enjoy it more and more the fitter you get as it gets easier!! Stick around here if you need inspiration hon.

Have a great day one and all and keep running!!
