Bit late for good luck wishes Sammy and Amanda but i hope you guys had a good RFL... let us know how it went. (you're not related are you? like Samanda from BB, no, of course not!! Sorry!!!)

HWGA - you'll do great, and there are loads of slow walkers/plodders at the FLM, so don't beat yourself up, you'll easily manage it if you up your distances. Ask Red Squirrel, she did the moonwalk which was marathon distance, so might be able to give you some tips.

Fanx for that, Im cr*p and I know it but then that's never stopped me so far.
Can't fly but still jumpped outa plain,
can hardly swim but went scuba diving, only managed 12ft, brused eardrum, but still it was 12ft just need a shallow reef,
Treked the great wall o China, got there in the end, with a load of strangers who became friends
So watch out FLM, I'll get you in the end:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ****

Runchum's granny died on friday so our sheduled run for this afternoon might be off... however i've suggested that she and i go for a bit of a walk instead if she doesn't feel up to a run..... oh and 4 miles on the bikes again yesterday with Erin!

sorry some how I got that in the middle, hope you can read it up there lol

well I did about 4 miles on Tuesday which I was pleased with after RFL. Am planning on going out again on Friday over about the same distance although will not have my running mate so am a little worried I will lack motivation, but as I have just told u I am going I am hoping that will keep me on the straight and narrow :)

    Hi B

Just wondered if you could give me so info about your gizmo.. I would love something that does that. I do map my run but would love it to be a bit easier!

Doing my Race for life this morning.....Did it in 32 last year after doing no training and this year I have done a bit (and I mean a bit). I would like to do it in 30mins but last year I had my 17 year old daughter literally dragging me round!

Hi sammy, sorry for the late reply, I haven't checked the thread for a while! My gizmo is the Nike+ SportBand. Hope this link works: http://store.nike.com/emeastore/?&ref=#,en,,url;stage,prod_grid-309113-309168-187267//187266//0--0/,|3

Also got new Nike running shoes, the sensor goes in the shoe and the band around your wrist. Got new shorts and a t-shirt from them too and it was all free! Probably wouldn't have splashed out on all this stuff myself! And before anyone asks, sorry I don't know how you can get any free stuff, I got it through a competition in thelondonpaper.

This week hasn't been great for running for me. Was at my Mum's in Dublin this weekend, so no running until this Monday. So on Monday morning, I'd run about 4km when I slammed my toe into the brick border around the base of a tree I didn't see (the border, not the tree!). It may have had something to do with the pretty girl running the other way :o. I did what must have been a very comical windmill motion with my arms and managed to stop myself falling (was going quite fast). Smooth. I bet I really impressed her! GOD did it hurt! Toe went black with a nice purple edge. It's still a bit sore when I touch it, but I went on a run this morning and it was fine. Did 5km, but I need to get myself back within sight of 7-8km ahead of my 10K race. I've set myself the goal of 45 minutes, which will be tough, but we all need something to work around, right?! I had initially hoped to get round in under an hour, but I'm doing quite well so I think it's achievable. Am currently running at about 4'42" a km, so I need to speed it up to 4'30" or less to reach my goal. I also need to run 10km at least 2-3 times before the race.

Hope everyone's doing OK with their running.

So is everyone hanging their running shoes up for the summer?;) I did another 6.5 km this morning. It seems to be my psychological limit for some reason. Sure I feel quite tired after that, but I'm sure I could keep going longer physically, as I'm not "wrecked" afterwards. I hope you're all doing OK with your running.

It is so hot but I need to get out there. Will do later. If you give up for the summer it is more difficult to pick it up again in the autumn

hi beinerts... i haven't ran for about 10 days now.... runchum had a bereavement and had to go down south. i haven't been motivated enough to run alone. bad of me, but now the rfl is past i feel like it's a fitness thing, rather than training for a race so i'm more inclined to let it slip.

should fit one in this week, i hope!

you're doing great!!! keep it up!!!

Identify a race for yourself in the next month or so. That will help motivation,

Thanks for the replies! It is hot out there. I ran on Saturday and managed about 5k, but was completely soaking wet with the sweat (nice image, I know!). I normally run around 06:30 in the morning (as I did today) and it's far easier going.

I know what you mean about letting it slip when you don't have anything to work towards, it's the whole reason I signed up for the Nike 10k. I think I'll have to find another race later this year to enter, just for some motivation to keep it up!
