I really like running on holiday. It is a good way to get to know your new environment and you feel good because it is a fresh course and you are relaxed. You dont wont to overdo it though, you are on holiday after all“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0

HI everyone, I'm still reading with interest and desire to get out running - only a few weeks to go then will take it at my own pace for a bit.
Well done Chris on the Southend time, it's always a good feeling to conquer an aim! :j
Very jealous at seeing dh out running constantly, he's off for a 10 miler tomorrow so his progress for the Snowdon marathon is going well.
My aims when I'm back out will be to just build up the mileage for a while then start to look at some 5kms and 10kms. I haven't put on much weight whilst pregnant which is great but I'm not into checking that really, I look at how I feel and the toning that takes place.
OK so that's the plan all being well with baby!
Well done everyone for getting out and about whether it's running or walking.

Hi SB, good luck for your run on Sunday, sure you will be fine. I have also applied for Marathon...can't wait to find out if I have got a place. Also doing the Bristol Half in September.
Where is the adidas 5k?
I'm always in awe of you real runners on this thread, I'm doing the London marathon for NDCS, but can't run but I walk fast, running and breathing don't work for me:rotfl: :rotfl: Pity I can't find some other hopeless so and so's like me so I wouldn't be on my own at the back, but even if I crawl home I WILL make it, good luck to you sally and everyone else with their challenges:Alost 3stin 4mnths GC nov£90/£51.65 July£100/£97.67 Aug£90/£18.59LBM Nov05 Loan £4910.65 Paid April07 sealed pot challenge#256Nov06 CC £2,590.56 Paid aug07 + Savings07/08 Night Owl 22#Mortgage £87,000/£84,000/ £82,261.00/£81,785.30 £80,268/£75402.00/£71229.15 DFW NERD 987 Long Haul member 125 debt free 24th aug 070 -
Went out for a run this morning. Got a new fancy gizmo that tells me how far I'm running and at what pace. 6.58km this morning in 32'01" so pace is 4'51" a km. It's given me some confidence for the Nike 10k race (never done one before!). Need to start pushing the distance a bit (think that's the longest I've done so far), but I think I'm on target for getting round in under an hour.
Hi B
Just wondered if you could give me so info about your gizmo.. I would love something that does that. I do map my run but would love it to be a bit easier!
Doing my Race for life this morning.....Did it in 32 last year after doing no training and this year I have done a bit (and I mean a bit). I would like to do it in 30mins but last year I had my 17 year old daughter literally dragging me round!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Hi Sammy
I too am doing my Race for Life this morning............ and although have been going to the gym and swimming regularly, I could only manage 2k in 20mins on the treadmill this week!
In previous years I have trained and have always managed in around 29 - 34 mins so will be well upset today if I come in slower. My advice would be start slowly and try to run / walk at an even pace.
I am hoping that today will give me the confidence to get back to outdoor running.
Good luck and let us know ur time x0 -

Bit late for good luck wishes Sammy and Amanda but i hope you guys had a good RFL... let us know how it went. (you're not related are you? like Samanda from BB, no, of course not!! Sorry!!!)
HWGA - you'll do great, and there are loads of slow walkers/plodders at the FLM, so don't beat yourself up, you'll easily manage it if you up your distances. Ask Red Squirrel, she did the moonwalk which was marathon distance, so might be able to give you some tips.
Runchum's granny died on friday so our sheduled run for this afternoon might be off... however i've suggested that she and i go for a bit of a walk instead if she doesn't feel up to a run..... oh and 4 miles on the bikes again yesterday with Erin!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Oh Sammy, sorry you didn't get out to do the RFL, (saw it in daily chat)
I didn't get out tonight either... runchum didn't even fancy going out for a walk or anything.... so a bath, some telly, and some chillin on MSE!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0
