Well done IA - 4km in 29 minutes - works out at 5km in 36minutes 15 seconds ish so only 1 minutes and 15 seconds to reduce it by! Yes, I am a nerd at times!

I didn't manage my 1.7km (about a mile) run this morning - I got 3/4 round and then felt the burn in my legs. Been walking with a limp all day and can only assume it was because I only did a couple of stretches rather than a proper warm up and stretches before starting off. Going to have a nice warm bath tonight and do a few more gentle stretches and try again in the morning. If I can run it, I'll be dusting off my push-bike and using that!

my runchum gets a sore hip too but she's needing new shoes and thinks she must be slightly off on one side, lack of support or something.... i hope it's not your lovely new trainers!

maybe worth going and getting assessed....?

I'm in Aberdeen tomorrow might, i might make a point of going and getting looked at... i'm not having pain but i'd like to know so when i do buy new shoes that i'm getting something that works for me.

    Hey everyone!

I need to get into jogging as I am planning on joining the RAF and need to run 1.5miles in 14.5minutes.. :undecided:

I havn't jogged in about a year, and even then I was never brilliant at it but I was progressing fast when I got into it.. :)

I have been out for a bike ride today for 2.8miles, and i'm running it over in my head how far 1.5 miles is, and it just seems such a long way off! :o I feel like i'm never gonna do it!

The one good thing is the 1.5 miles I have to do is on a treadmill, so it's easier than 'proper' running..

Anyways, I hope you let me join your thread and when i've done my first run I will let you all know :)

If anything I think it may be a bit of residual SPD as I used to get it all in my hip. Was getting it with my old trainers too so it's not my lovely new trainers. lol

I've managed 1.4 miles in 15 mins and I'm no runner at all so I'm sure you'll do fine, especially if it's on a treadmill. :)

Oh well that rules me out for a career in the RAF, (well that and the fact that i am too old, too short, too fat, too blind! etc etc!!)

I'm sure you'll be fine hun.

It's amazing how quickly you progress when you do regular sessions.

I struggled to do run1minute/walk1minute in April, and have just completed a 5k in 42minutes with no stops... so anything is possible!

Ia - What's an SPD? is that baby related spongy hips or something?

    hey all... quick report back

Went out tonight with runchum. We did 30 minutes without stopping, then walked 3 minutes, got Erin and took her out for a further 10 minutes. Erin has decided she would like to run with us, so we thought we would take her out at times, afterall as long as she doesn't overdo it, it can only do her good. Prepare for hellish things like sports days and cross country at school.

Maybe only once every couple of weeks, but we'll see. Good for her to see excercise as a part of everyday life i guess.
