H Guys
Can I join, have dedicated myself to get fit this year and m doing a 10k in October, went to the gym today and did 1 mile in 12mins so 6 miles should do in just over 1 hour. Also decided to get my finances fitter as well, coming up to year anniversary of hubbies death soon so determined not to sit and feel sorry for myself got to think positive and get on with life at 44 theres plenty of life left in the old bones.;)
Good to see you on here kiora. I don't take part on the thread too much, but I do follow what goes on each day and all the girls certainly motivate me and I did my first jog/walk the other day, so I'm still hopeful. It's good to hear how positive you are after the sad loss of your hubby. You're right, at 44 you have a lot of living to do!
Good luck and I'll leave you in the good hands of Chris and all the girls.

Hi guys
Maz - well done on RFL and running all the way - brilliant.
I decided to time how long it took me to do the 1.1km jog/run this morning; left the house at 6.05 and back in at 6.13:oI honestly thought it took me 15 minutes to get round so, I've decided to try the 1.7km circuit tomorrow morning (a big square, downhill start and uphill finish).
I'm quite enjoying it though.

You want to borrow my jet Pack for the RFL!
I think if you have an incentive like that then you could do it. I guess the only thing that might throw a spanner in the works is if there are loads of people and they slow you down?
Welcome to all the new runners out there
Cat we all start off on a short distance, but keep at it and you will increase distance/speed really quickly
Day off running for me today (have to cycle to work and back later) but looking forward to a run in the morning tomorrow. Less than 2 weeks now till RFL and I really want to do it under 35 minsI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Welcome new runners!
My legs were a bit achy after Saturday, bit shocked at just how unfit I felt! Was going to get up early and run this morning but had a bad night's sleep, will have to try and go this evening. Our work gym is open evenings on Tues & Thurs so I might try and get down there for a cycle/ row/ something!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I know.. _pale_ my original target was 45 and with the course (which includes a MASSIVE uphill bit for at least a mile) I'm really not hopeful of being able to do it...Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Kiora - so sorry to hear about the first anniversary of losing your husband is coming up - I know how tough anniversaries can be, but well done for doing something positive. Don't be too hard on yourself though, you're allowed to grieve in whatever way feels right.
Maz, the sun does me in too - give me a cooling drizzle any day! But then I grew up in Scotland as well...southerner by birth and in residence now as well, alas.

Did Saturday's route again tonight (1.2 miles according to google map thingy), think I'd timed the eating better so it was easier, but I think going uphill at the start is a bad idea! Ran/ walked the first (uphill) half then ran most of the downhill half back home. Took about 15 mins I think - I very carefully checked the time before I left and then forgot when I got back in!
Anyone else tried using the training calendar on Runnersworld? You can log your runs, put in your usual routes, record times etc. Think it could be good for keeping track of progress.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Just got back from my run and felt really tired. Managed 5 miles but have decided to keep it at 5 miles until after RFL then I will start training for the half marathon...ahhhhhhhhh
Lovely and sunny out today which always puts me in a good mood for the day, now I must not eat too much just because I have run!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well done on the better runHave you tried fetcheveryone.com to log all your runs as well, quite good and there's a good forum there as well. How does it feel to be running again? I'm really getting back into it again after FLM, did 10 miles over the weekend and really enjoyed it - maybe, just maybe I might do another marathon.....................

This evening I went for a run. I did a complete lap of our village... in total 2.49 miles or 4 km... and I did it in 29 minutes
:D:D:D:D:D:D
I'm absolutely shattered and my stomach muscles are killing... and I'm still 1km short of the RFL distance which is also all offroad! _pale_
Still really really please with what I did tonight, especially on my own... although I was gutted when I saw it was only 4km as thought I'd worked my route out as the whole 5km. Oh well..Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
