Hi all, well went for my first run today, got too late thurs and frid, so decided to head out this morning.

It was great actually. Did about a mile. Stretched first, then walked, jogged, walked jogged. Just took it really steady and then back home.

Had a shower, and felt really good. Got that natural high from just doing some exercise. Posture better already as I seem to hold myself better after running.

    Need a sports bra though.

So first step being the hardest and all that, that bit is achieved.

    Yey to running.:T

Hi all, well done Triker for getting out there! Did my first run in errr dunno it's been month's what with concentrating on the walking! Did about a mile too, first half mile mostly uphill, that was mostly run 1, walk 1, second half mile back downhill, which I mostly ran with a couple of 30 sec walks. Legs feel fine but blimey the breathing was hard. Think I'd left it a bit too long since breakfast too as I felt really lacking in energy.

Came in, had a shower, some lunch and settled down on the sofa to read.... and fell asleep! :o

Lots of luck to those of you doing the RFL tomorrow :D xx

    Evening All
Sorry Ive been AWOL and had a whole week without a run....my goodness I found it hard this morning. I heard once that 1 week not training puts you back 6 weeks...this can't be true surely?? Anyway I managed a 5 mile run although feeling a little dispondant at the moment. Got RFL in 2 weeks but need to find something else to train for.
Oh and I got some new trainers...yay and they are soooo comfortable! :)
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

  • Triker - nothing like a run to find out exactly why you need a sport bra!

  • ....no sports bra......:embarasse !!

When I first started running I could do no more than two minutes at a time - I'd do that twice then collapse in a sweaty heap. It's all about building it up gradually, but it's amazing how it comes.

Comfy running shoes - essential, and it they're right, no need to listen to the doom merchants (non-runners) who say "you'll ruin your knees you know" !

    morning all!

it's RFL day for me.... the reason for or all this training! and it's raining buckets!!!!!!!! Aye, i mean like huge rain!!!!!!

    Oh carp!!!

I have this rather fetching silver waterproof mega mac thing that i got free at an outdoor concert one time, which is going to come in very handy in the waiting around part of this morning. then it can be discarded into the nearest bin at the start.... so at least we'll start the race dry.

    wish me luck all!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck and happy running to everyone who comes later. I'll post my times and maybe some pics later!

    Hey all!!!!! i managed it!!!!!

All running in 43 minutes!!!!!!!!!! honestly folks no stops at all!

Jeezus i have never been so wet thru as the rain was absolutely torrential!!! We kept the poncho thingys on all the race, so reckon having a plastic bag on the whole time probably burned extra calories!!!

We took a pic before, see attached, in my house.

but it was too wet to take the camera with us, and we didn't have any supporters to take any there. :o

Still it was an amazing experience, despite the rain! And a fantastic run by me n runchum rachel!

Had a lovely hot shower now, and feeling human again!! Even though we took dry clothes and got changed, we were still soaked thru!!
