Been very naughty recently and haven't been for a run in about a week. Planning to go for a slow 20min jog tonight and pack my stuff for holidays.

Hmm time or distance? Was looking at some 10k training plans earlier - am planning to do the Great Yorkshire Run in Sept (just under 12 weeks away). Some tell you to do so many minutes a day and some do it by distance - one has so many minutes during the day and then a distance for the longer run at weekend which is the one I'm tending towards.

What does everyone else find better?

I've always trained based on minutes rather than distance as I've concentrated on fitness rather than speed. Seemed to work as I finished my first 10k last month in 1hr 6 mins. I never actually ran more than 50 minutes when I was training though.

Until recent events I was planning on gettin gup to an hour without walk breaks then looking at increasing speed to bring the 10k in under an hour in September but may have to revise my ambitions a little:o

    Hope that helps... X

Cnoelj, southwester, jellybabies - where are you!??!?! we need advice!

I don't have an opinion really... not experienced enough at the moment. but my plan seems to revolve around minutes.

I suppose it makes sense as if you do the minutes, the distance will take care of itself and you won't be over pacing yourself...

Midwife said it would be fine so long as I wasn't trying to break my PB or doing hill sprints - a gentle jog is fine. At the moment I'm still planning to take part in the 10k in September - If Paula Radcliffe can then so can I!!!
