Good work Maz, you now know you can do 20 minutes at a time, so perhaps you can make that your "standard" time now? Either way, well done.
This morning's experience was not so good for me, got up later than normal, got down to the park and found it hadn't been opened yet. So instead of my usual run around the lake in the park (bottom of my road), I found myself pounding the pavements and breathing in exhaust fumes. Got back home after only 15 mins (quite fast running though). Oh well, you'll always have bad days!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Can I join? I want to start running again, mainly to shed some excess weight but also to get fit.
Can I ask where did you get your running shoes from and how much?
I saw some in TK Maxx the other day but didn't buy them as I wanted to research, check and see if I could get cheaper, they were £16.99, can't remember the brand though.
Any suggestions?DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

pretty shoes!!!!!!!!! yes, Triker, i think they were the ones IA bought.
It's probably worth getting assessed at a running shop, to see whether you have a particular "Gait" and need a certain style of shoe. i.e. how your feet land etc and certain trainers help compensate/support your weak areas.
I had sore ankles when running with my Fila running shoes, but with my NB ones i don't have any such problems, it was a revelation.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
A stark contrast to my old running shoes!

Thanks Beinerts, and all for the encouragement!
I know what you mean about managing 20 minutes now so that is the point at which will aim for on friday when we go out. Runchum was all mad and enthusiastic and said "oh next time we should set 30mins on the watch and see if we can do that". But i think aim as high as before, i.e. 20 and if you can push the envelope (where does that saying come from?!!) on the day, rather than aim higher at first and fail. I tend to like to do the usual for 2 sets, and push the last one to add on the time ti next level. The first set is hardest for me, so don't want to kill myself early and risk hating the whole run.
She thinks we may manage to run it all on race day, but i'm mentally aiming for run20, walk1 x 2 plus any extra required/if required.
I'm sure my PB (get me!!) for previous 2 RFL's (not last year, but 2005/2006) was 37.38 or something... so we might be able to do it in 2x20runs given i'm not as fit as i was then.... so really only 1 walk break then..... and only for 1 minute.
not bad as i thought i'd lost it when Runchum was on honeymoon.I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0
