Hope your legs are holding up sarah...
Maz thats brilliant that you had the motivation to go on your own. I desperately want an ipod..just a cheap shuffle although on the lovely sunny summer mornings its been nice to listen to the birds singing.
SW hope the half goes ok, still 10 days to mentally prepare!
Right going to try and do 3 and a half in the morning...just need to plan a routeI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

on the subject of music....
I found the ipod made me run harder and faster which is not necessarily the best thing for a newbie runner like me!!
What does everyone else think about music when they run?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Morning
im back....just. Really struggled this morning, terrible stitch and mentally I need to overcome the I can't. Im 6 weeks in, is it about now that people start to give up??
Anyway I did 3.6 miles although had to stop twice (only for 30 seconds) as stitch was so bad, but I did it so thats half the battle!
Must buy some proper running tops, had my waterproof coat on and of course it doesn't breath....got home relaxed my arms and all the sweat had pooled at the bottom of the arms...revolting!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. Personally I never run without my ipod. I've made up playlists that have music of varying beats - some calmer to chill me out and stop me pushing too hard, especially at the start of a run, and some more uplifting to keep me going, usually at the 3k and 4k points.
I'm also a gadget freak and Hubbles got me a Nike+ gadget and matching trainers as a present coming back from a business trip in Texas. I've never been so motivated as I am now I can see my runs in little charts and commit to goals by recording them on my Nike+page. Occasionally you get a little message at the end of a run from Paula Radcliffe or Lance Armstrong congratulating you on your fastest mile or longest distance which adds to the feel good.

Depends how heavy your preferred 'metal' is. G'n'R feature regularly on my playlists...26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Hi Sally.
To be honest, it wasn't something I had researched. I had the i-pod already and my husband bought me the add on bits and trainers as a gift. I already had a basic HRM from former gym-bunny days so combine the two.
If the training goes well over the summer and I start competing properly (did I mention I have a competitive streak...?) I might upgrade to a gadget that does it all in one, particularly as I don't like being limited to Nike+ trainers now I'm building up my weekly mileage. If I could stick the transmitter part in any running shoe I'd be happy to stick with the Nike+though. Have you compared the community aspect of each of them to see which set up you think you prefer?26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073
