Well running this evening but did terribly. Couldn't breathe because of the heat and felt weak.. guess the busy day and not much sleep I had yesterday had an effect on me after all!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Sarah, don't worry too much, I can't hack it in the heat either which is why ive resorted to getting up at 6am  and going before DD gets up.I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

ok so I did 2.6 miles...really really pleased though as I should be able to do the 5k easily by July. Now off to hunt for a 10k race in august/septemberI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well done Sally & Sarah - you're doing great. Must admit I'm glad I'm not running in this weather, even the fast walking is hard work when it's really hot. I've banned myself from getting buses this week so have done somewhere between 5-7 miles every day though not all in one go. Going to do a 10-12 mile either this evening or tomorrow morning.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

HI everyone, I'm still here reading your progress with interest. I think my training will start again over autumn and winter which is lovely because it will be cooler by then. Am walking as much as possible and certainly haven't put on too much weight and feel healthy.
DH is doing the Snowdon marathon again this year, he's also doing a challenge for Salamon one of 20 people in the world - will post a link to their website when it's got a bit more detail. Jammy git got free pair of trainers, mobile phone with GPS and camera to take pics, and a running top!!! Although top will probably end up mine as it's quite snug on him.
Well done everyone getting out there, I remember when I couldn't even run a mile and it's amazing how quickly you progress and don't worry if you have a rotten run it happens to everyone.

The Snowdon Marathon!
London is bad enough!
I enjoyed running in the sunshine on a 7-8 mile run in the park. And yes you have to be a bit more careful in this weather. Took it a bit easier than I would normally. Having said that the weather was very similar when I first did the London Marathon. Hi guys,
progress report. I hope nobody minds my posting on here? it's more for my benefit than anything else!
Went out again last night, run8/walk2 x 3, covered exactly 2 miles in 30 mins - 24minutes of running and only 6 of walking.
Breathing wasn't brilliant and i didn't get it in the zone like i did fleetingly when we did run7 minutes on tuesday but it was achievable and i managed it so feeling rather pleased with myself!
Yay me!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Of course nobody minds!! That is what the thread is here for and we like to hear of your progress.
Right breathing - I am going to set you an exercise.
Start by observing your breathing at different times of the day. When you are relaxed and also when you are less relaxed. Most of us dont breath correctly most of the time. The less relaxed are the more likely we do it wrongly. Are you breathing from the bottom of your lungs rather than the top. Your stomach should be expanding as you breathe in and contracting as you breathe out. In other words it should not be your chest moving. Concentrate on exhaling, pulling your stomach in as you do so. If you are breathing out you will breathe out automatically.
If you practice this when you are not running it will be much easier then to do it when you are“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
Oy Pania......what time are we going to run in the morning????
Seaxwyn - just saw your "run" times - fab :T If you can do that, you can easily work up to a 10k - just don't expect to do 8 min miles throughout at this stage.....10 min miles would be a good pace I reckon.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground.
