If you are using that as an affirmation - change it so that is something which has already been achieved otherwise the other than conscious mind will contradict it and reject it.

Try something like " I enjoy working towards greater levels of fitness"

Hmm that's an interesting idea, I've always found that I mentally rebel against thinking "I will do/ be..." (maybe I should change my signature although "I WILL" is definitely an improvement in the positive thinking stakes on the "aiming" I had previously).

And oh yes the dancing definitely works some muscles! Actually used to do a lot of dancing classes when I was younger and did a fantastic ballet workout one a few years back - would love to find something like that again to compliment the running. I don't think I'll be that graceful after a few pints this weekend though :rotfl:

You have unneccesary words which rather weaken it, although it is great in principle

I think it is the phrase "doing something" I have problems with. A bit woolly. The non conscious is like a child and only understands specific to the point language

I derive positive result by being proactive about my body and fitness

I enjoy the abundant benefits from keeping fit and looking after my body

  • I think Chris is right, I went to see a hypnotherapist before the Marathon and trained me in positive thinking as I was having massive demons in my head talking to me when I was running.

He gave me similar phrases to use, and told me to envisage positive things, such as the best run I had done, how I had felt etc. It really really helped, there were no doubts when I did the FLM and I had my own mantra "beach, bum, bikini" :rotfl: :rotfl:

Just got back from the gym today. Handed in my form for the running club, so ready to start next week!smiley-faces-28.gif
When I got back from the gym I took my dog out for a jog, that's right, a jog!!
I didn't keep to a run/walk pattern, just did what I could. It was more a sort of test, to see the difference in running outside, and to see if Shadow would behave on the lead while I was running. She was very good, apart from crossing in front of me twice & almost tripping me!
It was difficult for me, cos I couldn't keep the same pace, at the gym I can set the treadmill to a speed and keep it there, I had no idea if I was running too hard. I suppose it's just practice, and being with a group it should be easier. Dog loved the change in speed thou!:D

  • :T Well done on the running club, more than I have done. You will soon find your own pace as you run outside, so much more interesting than the treadmill.

I'm deferring until 8th May now, as Dh is away this week so no babysitter and I am away for a week after that - I really, really, really am going and have even got my friend to agree to go once with me. PLEASEEEEEEEEE don't shout SW! I will do it, I'm even going to join online - I promise!

I haven't even done a run since FLM yet how naughty is that, might go out tomorrow, but just quite fancy a break from it. May have another weeks break and do a bit when I am away??

JB, you are very naughty :p Nah, I think you deserve a break and there's no point in pushing yourself if you're not going to enjoy it.

As it was such a lovely evening I left work early and did an 8 mile walk before coming home.. was fantastic, felt like Spring out there :j
