You mean over cannock chase... oooh good question... maybe a mile.. :rotfl:

That is a good start. How about if you start to increase your distance by about 10% per week over the next few weeks. Slowly but surely and I am sure you will get there. You have about 10 weeks or so. You would do it comfortably if you do it slowly but consistently

I started off by walking/jogging/running and am trying to increase the amount I jog/run each time.

0930 and i'm waiting for my buddy to arriev so we can go out and do our run1/walk1 session... humph! not feeling full of the joys f spring i can tell you. But it is a lovely day, so may not be too bad.........

will report back in a while.

Well we did it! And am feeling quite smug.... the plan said run2mins/walk4 x 5... which seems a bit odd but it felt good!! The 2minute runs were actually easier than the run1/walk1's from last week, which must've been down to the recovery periods i guess.

We covered 2 miles and it took us 30 mins which is okay, and more distance than last time.

I had a pair of New Balance trainers which i bought last RFL (2years ago) but never wore them much as they gave me hot soles of my feet. But given my cankle (calf/ankle) pain last time i thought i would try them and see if i could avoid/combat that. AND IT WORKED!!! NO CANKLE PAIN!!!! Okay i did have hot soles but i wore extra fine socks and will go by some nicer ones that should definately help.

So the pain problem has been solved and the run for the day was completed by quarter past 10! How smug do i feel!! Oh and it is a gorgeous day here!!!

Heeeellllo IA!!!!!  i've been impressed by your Chase running! Sounds fairly impressive, is it a hill?

Well Done Maz, im feeling a bit of a slob today, if I don't do any kind of exercise I almost get fidgety. Anyway have got swimming tonight so that will keep me going and I might persuade DH and DD to go for a nice walk in the woods later as the sun has come out

Will be having a fairly active day all round.... came in from my run and made breakfast, and yes i had a bacon sarnie, but i think i earned it!

Then put stew into slow cooker for later, had a shower, just about to take dogs out for a walk in fields at back of us, usually cover about 2 miles with them.

Must put washing in, have stripped both beds too so would be good to get them washed and out today as is a lovely, if a little windy day today. Funny it seems like a good idea to strip the beds, until about 7pm tonight when i'll realise i haven't made them again!!!

Then Erin wants to go a wee cycle, so will manage that too.

    Gee whizz will sleep tonight!!!

Well done Mazz! It is great when you start to see signs of progress

Sally dont beat yourself up. If you are swimming later you dont need to run as well.

  • Afternoon everyone, good to see we are all being active and hello to everyone new :hello:

Went to the gym for the first time since the Marathon, just did some cycling and 30 mins rowing, knee still feels slightly odd so might just do some cross training now until it is definately healed up.

For anyone who's starting out, I have started to read FIRST book, which claims that you run less and run faster, it is running three times a week and cross training twice, I sort of took it on board towards the end of my marathon training. Got the North Run in October (really good goal to aim for IA) and so going to use that routine and see if it works.

Everyone who is doing walk/run method it really is the best way to start and it's amazing how you can pick up the pace from there.

Off for a lie down now :D
