Hi all and congratulations to our marathon runners! You lot are fantastic.

I hardly dare mention my own feeble efforts on here but I've started running again. I haven't run since December, so I don't know how long it will take me to get back to fitness. I'm going to enter a 1-mile Fun Run on 4 May as a start and will look for something a little longer in the summer.

I've joined the local Running Club but so far have been too shy to actually go along to their sessions. I must get over that stupid block. They do 'mixed ability runs' on Thursday night but I'm scared I'll be too slow for even the slowest group.

I very much doubt that you would be the slowest and in the unlikely event that you are - so what. We grow by pushing out the envelope and expanding our comfort zones. Go for it

The fun run will be ideal to start with Seaxwyn, then you can build up from there quite quickly.

As cnoelj says.......you certainly wouldn't be the slowest at the running group - get ye down there!!

If it's any consolation, I am too scared to go to a running club as well. Rang the man on one of the teams last night and I MAY:rolleyes: go next week, just feel a bit shy as assume they all know each other and I will feed a bit odd.

If you do it, I'll do it..............

JB - I have been there. I made excuses for years about not going to a running club - but was one of the best decisions I made. You will probably find that there will be at other very new people as well

You have just run the London Marathon for goodness sake. People are going to want to know about that. There will be others who have run it this year and still others who have run it in the past. You are going to find common ground with people. I know that you will find people who want to help you and others who are going to be inspired by you and seek your help.

Go for it. And do it sooner rather than later. Sorry - feeling bossy today :D

JB definitely go to the club, you'll learn so much and be encouraged by others. They are normally excellent social places too and very welcoming.

If you don't go I'm gonna drag my 5 1/2 month pregnant body to you and make you go!

How's everyone feeling since Sunday? My dh could hardly walk for a few days when he did the Snowdon marathon a couple of years ago!
