Hi SW :hello:
Training sounds good - I managed 16 miles on Sunday in 2hrs 27, ached massively afterwards but felt good for doing it. Aiming for 18 miles this Sunday. I rested on Monday, did some cross training, swimming etc on Tuesday and 5 miles yesterday but it was an absolute killer - legs really ached, although still stuck to a 9 min mile. Supposed to do 8 miles today and 5 tomorrow but the bone at the front of my lower leg hurts today so maybe I should rest - only problem is I feel guilty. Could do 8 miles on Friday instead I guess?
Sorry to hear about your friend, it certainly does make you see life in a different light. I found out a few weeks ago that my bf's cancer has returned - when the running is tough I just focus on what she has to go through and that spurs me.
Thoughts to your friend's family xx0 -
BA - if you need to rest, do so ....please!
I know about the guilt thing. I have been running through a continous cold and chest infection since Christmas. I have finally decided I will have a couple of days off. At the end of the day does it really matter if you dont quite hit the time you were hoping for on the day? If necessary goals can be rearranged which is better than having to drop out of events all together.“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
aww southwester really sorry to hear that. Awful news & yes does put things into perspective..
Have applied for the race for life in June & hope to be able to run all the way by then. Pania is coming to do it wth me which will be really special - although she may have to drag me some of the way!!
Re sponsorship I would love to sponsor everyone but just cant afford it. I have sponsored P for the marathon and discovered yesterday that my sister is doing moonwalk so wil have to sponsor her for that so am really sorry but P's will have to do for now as my symbolic sponsorship for all. If miraculous finds come up will try & support the rest of you but money is really tight for the next couple of months and am sure pepys will understand
I've finally heard back re my watch and garmin agree that it was faulty so have swapped it for a 205 which I'm hoping will be easier to use! While I have this enforced no running will try & go for walks to plan runs IYKWIM! I want to find some locally that I can do in the eves & safely, pref not all on tarmac. I'm not a fan of treadmills (although they can be handy when its raining) so want to get a few routes planned while I can easily!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Cheers cnoelj, I am going to rest, will try and run tomorrow instead if I can. Stupid to feel guilty about it. I hope your cold is better soon.
ISOM - I haven't posted for ages but read up on your operation, hope you are feeling better and glad you have resolved the watch issue. Re sponsorship, I don't think anyone at all would expect you to sponsor everyone, whatever you do donate will go a long way.
Off to make cakes now with the kids. Feel better about stuffing my face when I know I'm going to run it off though!
Also found I got into the GNR this year again, can't wait :j0 -

Hi SW, I was pretty pleased with the time, I am hoping for 4hr on the marathon but we shall see how it goes. I get so nervous before doing a long training run so will no doubt be crapping myself when I get to 20 miles! Do you ever hit a wall when it is just so hard?
Hope rugby training goes well tonight. Take care x0 -
Not sure if this has been mentioned, but there is a programme called 'C25K' which means 'Couch to 5K' - a running programme for people who havent run before, its great.
Google it and you should find it xx0 -

Theres the C25K linky for pepys. Ideal for me Ms London! I have a tendency to procrastinate so focus and structure of an programme is what I need. AM hopig the watch turnes up today (tracking only tracks when its delivered which is jus bizarre to me!!) so I can at least do a nice long tracking walk. Weather isnt looking great here but I've woken up feeling very achy & stiff so need to do something!
