  • Do you know what? You all sound amazing. When I was at school I was a county runner/sprinter and at one stage could run 8 miles or so (which was my fitest). Unfortunately I left school, uni and running clubs and have piled on 7 stone since!!! I dream of the day I can run that well again, but my weight is a huge issue.

Keep it up guys and girls, your all an inspiration.

I nearly did myself in, only managed to run for 20 minutes as my heart was pounding so fast, not a great situation to have got myself into but lesson learnt.....

Going very well other than that, good to hear you guys are doing good to.

Bet you will be pleased with yourself when you finish it though. So often the best runs are the ones we do when we least feel like it. Just come back from a five mile run. Off to the club tomorrow for the first time for a while so it will be interesting to see what is in store there.

I read the OP which was about trying to reach your own target but the last ones are all about running - can i join in for trying to lose 3 stone ?

  • Hi SW sneaking back in my marathon training is in full flow :)

I was doing the five runs a week plan but it almost finished me off so now doing 4 runs a week, Hal Higdon's training plan. Did 12 miles on SUnday though in 1hr 49 :j :j :j Really really pleased.

Doing speed training once a week on the treadmill and managed 2 mins at 8 min mile yesterday so getting there. Also been out and done just over 7 miles tonight. Like you I really didn't want to go but I feel brilliant now - although a little achey!

Great to see all the new people wanting to run - go Lenny!!

BITL - I started running by quite literally walking for a minute and running for a minute and then gradually upped the running, took me a few weeks to get my stamina up but it was well worth it. I found this article in Runners World which you might find helpful.

I have to admit I am not a natural runner but finishing the Great North Run filled me with such a feeling of pride I think I could become addicted to it!

And my butt is looking pretty good now too (no cheeky jokes please SW!):rotfl:
