  • Hello everyone - good to see everyone still on board and your typos were funny ISOM :) I have a 205 and it is good, hope you like it.

I was doing quite well last week, did what was required of me and did 7.2 miles on Saturday in an hour - however life has overtaken me since then. Kids, work, prior commitments, weather has meant I haven't run since. I was supposed to run last night but massive headache after a long day and tonight just too damn tired and not keen on running alone in the dark. So hopefully get out tomorrow...........

I just feel sooooooooo guilty and that this will really set me back in the marathon. I know in the grand scheme of things it is just three runs missed but still....

So I WILL get out tomorrow and going to do some of that farty running (can't remember the name :rotfl: ) and then do a short one on Friday and Saturday and then 11 miles planned for Sunday. Might make me feel less guilty.

Only bonus to all this training and guilt when I don't train is I spend less money so it really is debt effective :T

Off to eat some munchies now and have a glass of wine to chill out and watch martin on tv :)

    Hi everyone,

I have just discovered this thread so I thought I would join in if that's OK.

I used to do a lot of running and was a member of two running clubs but that all finished about three years ago. I think I just did too much and it took over my life. Also I changed jobs and my partner started working away during the week, which gave me childcare problems. All this lead to little physical activity and a bit of weight gain, nothing too extreme, but not the fit person I used to be.

I accepted the challenge of doing the 3-Peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike & Ben Nevis) in 24 hours in June and have also applied for the Great North Run later in the year, so I am on a mission to get fit again.

I have a 2.5 mile circuit near home which I have done a few times. I am about 10-minute miling at the minute but I am really excited about getting back to running, it just gives me such a buzz.

Its great to read about how you are all getting along with your individual goals. Good luck to you all, whatever you are training for. I hope to keep popping in to say hello.

    Hi chickadee and welcome

Good to hear that you are fired up again. I am sure you will have learned fro last time and won't overdo it.

Set yourself some realistic targets before the GNR. Enter at least one 10k and maybe a 10m, which I think you will find helpful.

Good luck with the 3 peaks. Sounds a real challange

  • Welcome Chickadee and good to hear from you BA

BA just one thing, not saying it will work for you. Sometimes when Im knackered and have a run planned, if I can get myself out the door it actually turns into a better run. Sometimes I look forward to it and have a dire run, doesnt always work like that but just another useles bit of info!!

I am wondering whether any other London Marathon entrants are going to the golden bond training seminar over the weekend. I have booked a place for Sunday. It should be a good day. I went three years ago and picked up a lot of tips as well as a half priced pair of running shoes. Dave Bedford is a key speaker as he is the race director and he is very entertaining with loads of anecdotes.

  • Hi fellow runners

    Hows the training going.

I did 17 miles yesterday in 2:35 but have to admit it hurt like hell and I was moaning all the way round to my running buddies, I think they got a bit fed up with it in the end!!

Only 9 long Sunday runs until the last weekend before the marathon

Hiya all, Sorry just caught this thread. Good luck to all who are running at London. I did it twice in 99 and 2000. The day is fantastic and the atmosphere electric. One tip I would make would be to make sure you put your name on the front of your vests. Its amazing what it does to your running with hundreds of people screaming your name!!

I was fortunate enough to run New York in 2006 which was great. I hadn't run in 6 years. This book really helped me and I did it in 4.01 (stopped for a pee on route:D ).

Sorry if this has been suggested already, and good luck to everyone.
