Okay, ive read as many pages of this post as i can, and found lots of info out. So far ive listed about 10 books - got more to put on tonight.
Where am i going to get more supplies from? Ive asked my mum what she has got and she has loads to give me. So that will help.
Any other ideas? Do i just have to go to carboots and places? What is i buy a load of crap?!!!0 -

Then you'll be just like me who can't spot a decent book if it had a neon light advertising the fact!
I spent quite a chunky amount at an auction last months for approx 800-900 assorted books (10 mixed lots) I was so excited when me and my car finally limped home with them. Unfortunately in the buzz of the auction I had checked only a few of the books and failed to spot the fact that they all had dealers marks on the fly leaf. When I started listing them I could only come to the conclusion that these were 'failed stock' as approx 3/4 of them were no good at all.
For several weeks it was like a maze in my house as I just kept moving the piles and boxes of books around, I actually only finally cleared them all last week. Luckily I have been approached by a major charity who have asked whether I can supply a table load of books *and* arrange to sell them on their behalf at a Christmas fundraiser. These books will be absolutely ideal as many are lovely books but just too weighty for Amazon. I've also been approached by another charity via a neighbour, a branch of Tool Aid who want books suitable for schools overseas, they can't have any reference to wars or guns in them though. I'm busy sorting through my discard pile for them although even mainstream books can fall foul of the 'no war no violence' rule. I have some lovely Atlasas to go as well as some readers and ladybird books.
So, long story..sorry, if anyone else finds themselves inundated with books get creative with the local charities. Also if someone does have suitable books for the third world (weight not a problem as they are going by volunteer lorry) then I am sure I can put you in touch with this new charity.
Otherwise I;ll see you at the Christmas faire wearing my Santa hat and selling off my coffee table books all for a very good cause.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have just been listing some books today and have noticed a few listed by others as ' book sold as reading copy only' Anyone know what this means exactly? Just curious!!0

Hmmm I sometimes put something similar in my listings for books that are 'acceptable' and even when I'm typing 'good reading copy' I'm thinking 'its a BOOK what else are they going to do with it? Paint the walls; receive BBC2; let it take the dog for a walk....'
What I mean by it is that its no good for a pressie and pretty battered so you can still read it but it might not be pretty..... not sure if thats what everyone else means by the term?0 -

That's more or less what I would understand by the comment, yet I don't like using it as not all customers can simply understand it maybe a bit grubby. Describe it accurately and avoid using bookdealers terms in descriptions on amazon as the customers can fail to understand and this may result in them being disappointed.Do You Twitter?

I tend to do both, so i will put good reading copy only at the start of the description so its seen, then go on to mention all the major flaws !!
Got a really bizarre feedback yesterday,
I have given excellent to as this book arrived looking like new this book arrived on sat 20th but i donot mind somtimes how the book lookes so long its not falling apart and is worth what is payed in this case it was well done"
She gave me 5/5 but it took me ages to figure out what she meant when i was shattered last night !!!

I see what you mean, Mishka:rotfl:
Was it a foreign buyer with an unusual use of English?
Congrats on the 5/5 though, However hard we try they are still like gold-dust:mad:0 -
I got a 4/5 the other day as this chap bought a 10 year old paperback - it had a full description as to state of the spine, covers etc etc but I didn't put on that the edges were starting to tan. His argument for the 4/5 when I asked very politely how I could improve my service, was to say it was because this was missed off the description, despite the fact that when I checked it was the ONLY one with more than "good" or "delivery in 2/3 days" in the description anyway! I sort of pointed out that with mass market paperbacks of 10 years vintage tanning is almost a given, but to no avail. I offered him a refund but he didn't want that either. *sigh* so now struggling to get back to where I was in my quest for a perfect 5 star instead of 4.9 before I give it all up0

talking of giving it all up - I am moving with luck just before Christmas to a much smaller cottage with no storage at all and no possibility of any in the foreseeable future and so reluctantly will have to cease selling on amazon. I shall post on the sellers connection on the amazon boards to see if there is any interest in purchasing my stock and listings (will download from Amazon) to make it easy so please keep an eye out there!
( hope that this is an acceptable post! If not, my apologies )0
