Describe it accurately and avoid using bookdealers terms in descriptions on amazon as the customers can fail to understand and this may result in them being disappointed.
thanks for the advice but I always include detailed description of all my books including that its a good reading or reference copy where appropriate. And sometimes I am surprised people buy them at all when I look at the honest descriptions especially for books that are 'acceptable' but maybe some buyers prefer a detailed factual description to the standard phrases such as 'despatched same day... trusted seller.. family business... waiting for a loving buyer 'etc etc who knows.
As for buyers being disappointed well at the risk of totally jinxing my feedback am pleased to have reached 50 feedback at 100% [only one 4/5] and it went up to to 51 today so I must be doing something right. OK 50 isn't much compared to bigger sellers but am a small lister who has other jobs and I do work hard to post promptly, list accurately and provide a good customer service. Only wish I had more time to build this up but am working on it
And to Gingababe - WELCOME and yes, yes, yes it is very addictive - you have been warned

Ok I am sorry if this is a really silly question??? do I put anything in with the book a compliment slip ??? or do I just post it ???

Welcome Gingababe,
There is no escaping now - you are addicted :rotfl:
I put a small compliments slip in all my packages along with a packing slip with details on such as book title, author, listing ID etc.
You can get the packing slip info from the Sold Dispatch Now email and I think you can also print them out from the orders page on Amazon. I have a home made supply which I just fill the details in when I get an order.

Help - sold a cd last week, posted it first class last Tuesday (23rd), the seller's emailed me twice to say it hasn't arrived (first asking was it dispatched). Another cd I posted on Thursday arrived and has had feedback left- would the first address being in London make a difference because of the strike/backlog?
Should I give them a refund now or tell them to wait til the end of the 15 days as given on the Royal Mail website?"And suddenly I find myself listening to a man I've never known before,Telling me about the sea..."0 -
tell 'em to wait - nicely! - East London especially was subject to longer unofficial action and the backlog is still horrendous... I am still putting disclaimers in my emails to buyers just in case!0
