Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Hi Martin & Team,
Your advice to date has been invaluable to me, thank you. I sought compensation from Thomas Cook following a 3.5hr delay coming back from Turkey last June. They delayed my claim on the basis that they were waiting for the ruling on the Jet2 case, but have today agreed to compensate me.
My query? They have sent me a £900 (£300 per person) compensation voucher to be redeemed against a new or existing Thomas Cook booking. Am I obligated to accept this instead of cash? Problem is, I just don't see when we'd use it, unlike cash! We enjoy Neilson holidays twice a year and being as Thomas Cook no longer have an affiliation with Neilson, the voucher is in effect worthless to me.
Do I have a right to request cash, or am I stuck with the voucher?
Would very much welcome your advice.
Many thanks!

Hi Emma,
Have a read of the last couple of pages of the dedicated Thomas Cook thread or even just have a look at the subject of the threads on the main page.
This gets asked and answered daily.

Delayed overnight by AA on an itinerary from Madrid -> US ->South America. Wrote a full claim on 9th Feb and submitted with supporting documents by email. Still nothing in response other than an automated reply.
Should my next step be a) a recorded letter to their UK address, b) to their Texas address or c) writing to the regulators?0 -

I'd read Vaubans excellent guide then probably do (a) they will no doubt notify you and forward it to (b) if necessary. (C) would be a waste of time.

So Flybe say I am entitled to compensation for a delay last year. They are offering me "a voucher to the value of £300.00 / 350.00Euros (per person) for redemption against a future Flybe flight."
Do i need to accept this?
you can bet the price i'm quoted will be the full last-minute fare. And i may not be flying with |Flybe enough in the next 18months to use the vouchers .0 -

Ok I'll start with the good news. Got confirmation today that TC will pay us a total of £885.00 following a delay to our flight last year. A big thanks to the site for the comprehensive guide to making a claim.
I have read back a few pages but forgive me if this has been discussed and covered. One of the posts highlighted that there seemed to be a lot of new comments and it looks like there may have been a mass clearing of claims. This made me think as I lodged my claim last September and was told it was on hold in mid October pending the court result. Now here is my point - At the time I registered my claim the exchange rate for the Euro was 1.25. Based on this exchange rate the payout would have been £960. Do you think someone has twigged that they can save a few pounds and payout while the euro is in such a poor state?
Just a thought. I know that some would get less if the claim was settle on the exchange rate for the date of travel.0 -
Bigger survey, but different to our results !After reading PtL Vaubans Guide , please don't desert us, hang around and help others!

I wrote to American Airlines in December 2014. I had to wait a long time for a reply but on January 13th, American Airlines offered me £485 flight compensation. I sent them my banking details so they could transfer the money. I chased this up after 6 weeks and was told will be in my account within 2 weeks. Still waiting. I have sent various more emails and just received automated replies. One reply told me to contact there Harmondson Office as they deal with refunds. I have sent Harmondson copies of all correspondence. Still no reply. has anyone else had the same experience and has anyone received any flight compensation from American Airlines. What should I do next.0
