Do you happen to know who I could approach?

If you read the various posts regarding the CAA and their role you will realise that they offer little or no assistance to consumers anyway bearing in mind the fact that they are funded by the airline industry.

In effect your only course of action is to threaten (and then action if necessary) Court action against Air France. It would appear from your earlier post they are hiding away at the moment in the hope you will go away but if you post on the appropriate thread all the details of your delay, route/date/timing etc then someone will advise if you have a legitimate claim.

I must admit that I thought that if the flight left a non-EU country, then the CAA would investigate (as the other NEB would only do so if it were European, as per their original agreement). But frankly this is a moot point, as the CAA have proved rubbish for the vast majority of those that have tried to engage them.

Totally agree however I would imagine CAA are passing the buck as it was an Air France flight that touched down/stayed over in Paris on the return leg.
  • After reading some of the forum threads here I thought I would have a long haul with my claim to Thomsons after our flight home from Lanzarote was delayed by around 11hrs in June.

Not so, however. A couple of days ago a cheque for the equivalent of €400 each dropped through our letter box. Well done Thomsons, and you can be sure the money will be recycled through you via another holiday in the sun this autumn.

Oh, and well done MSE for explaining in such appropriate detail how to go about claiming and for all the other times I have enjoyed your site.

Thomas Cook have now defended my claim and are using a firm called Travlaw LLP. Anyone else had a defence prepared by them? Anyone know their success rate? Searched for them on this forum but nothing coming up.
  • My parents Thomson air flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife in June this year was delayed for almost 24 hours due to engine failure, I helped them write to the Thomson air eu delays compensation address, but their claim was refused as Thomson say that the delay wasn't their fault. Can and how do we take this further? They've lost a night of their holiday and I feel they deserve better.

Read the FAQs on page one for what to do next - it's all there.

I had hours of delay flying from Lagos to Heathrow via Paris (CDG). I wrote to Air France (using the template on the MoneySaving expert website) and got no reply so, again following the advice here, filled in the online complaint for to the CAA. I got an automated response saying that they would not deal with any delay on a flight originating outside the EU.

That is contrary to the advice on this website!
If the flight originated outside the EU but was flying to an EU destination it is covered by EU 261/2004. As the delay was into CDG I would contact the French NEB

Firstly I would repost this on the Thomson thread on this site. Also what reason are Thomson giving for such a hefty delay
  • I travelled from Newcastle to Hong Kong, changing at Paris.
The plane from Paris to Hong Kong was delayed by 4 hours. Can I claim for compensation as this flight wasn't from the UK, although the whole journey was?
    Many thanks for any assistance.
