try going to the dedicated Thomson thread, start with the FAQs and post on that thread if you need to.
In short you can claim reimbursement of lunch but they will probably request receipts. They could well state EC but you should have a good case for delay compensation0 -
Have been told it doesn't usually happen, and you can only do it on legal grounds
Is this legal enough
Despite being informed by the National Enforcement Body appointed by the Spanish government that they should pay my party 400 Euros each in compensation, they refused and have continued to refuse.
By blaming the delay on the action of a third party they are in fact admitting liability under paragraph 80 of the legal challenge to the Sturgeon judgment of 23/10/2012
Seriously considering it
Sounds good to me Mag.0 -

Hi, I am currently trying to claim through Delta and I wondered if anyone can help.
They said in their email "I understand that due to the delay of your flight DLxxx you and your party missed your connecting flight, however the connecting flight was in the USA and the EU regulation rules does not apply on this instance."
I was under the impression that if both flights are booked at the same time (as if it was one flight) then EU regulation rules do apply. I can't seem to find anything official that says this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
(we flew from Heathrow to JFK New York then onto Cincinnati, The delay was at JFK - It was only around 1hour 30 minutes but we missed the connecting flight and didn't get to Cincinnati till the next afternoon around 18 hours later than we were supposed to)
Thanks0 -

edit: I see you have been posting on that thread yesterday and have some good advice about next steps...you know you are in the right so you just need to get that letter off0 -

Yes, Lynda has been so helpful
Just want to get my letter right before sending it off.
I'm sure I saw something somewhere about the eu regs applying in this instance but can't find it again!0 -
I had hours of delay flying from Lagos to Heathrow via Paris (CDG). I wrote to Air France (using the template on the MoneySaving expert website) and got no reply so, again following the advice here, filled in the online complaint for to the CAA. I got an automated response saying that they would not deal with any delay on a flight originating outside the EU.
That is contrary to the advice on this website!0 -
Thanks - bit of a negative for this site!
Do you happen to know who I could approach?0 -

I must admit that I thought that if the flight left a non-EU country, then the CAA would investigate (as the other NEB would only do so if it were European, as per their original agreement). But frankly this is a moot point, as the CAA have proved rubbish for the vast majority of those that have tried to engage them.
Kentdbc: no one is going to "investigate" your flight. So either start legal proceedings against the airline, if you think you have a case, a chalk it up to a bad experience.0
