We flew from Hurghada to Birmingham in January 2010, Birmingham airport was closed due to snow on the morning of our return. Our flight was delayed due to the snow which caused the flight crew to go over their allowed flight time, the plane had to fly from Birmingham to Manchester to pick up a new crew and then fly out to us.

The delay was about 7 hours would I be able to make a claim for this?
    Cashback earned
    Quidco : £858 :)
    Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.

Centipede has the patience of a saint to answer the same questions over and over again.
    I'm afraid I don't.
I posted the FAQ's on this thread at approx 09.30 yesterday morning, there have been 7 pages of questions since then, and 90% of those further questions are dealt with in the FAQ's.
So it's time for me to bow out gracefully.
    Good luck people.
    Mark.

Well done you we are having no luck at all with klm even though it is a clear case of delay , both ways. I am interested in how you got them to pay out

I simply emailed KLM with the correct information using the Flight Stats website recommended on here and they paid up instantly.
I think perseverence is the key.
All I can say is thanks and well done KLM.

    Hi,

Just to share my experiences, following on from Martins "how to guide" I contacted Easyjet to claim back delay compensation for a flight to Barcelona in 2010

Of course Easyjet came back, fairly quickly, with a no

I then took the next step in contacting the caa who upheld my complaint and so Easyjet offered €250 each for myself and my husband due any day now

    :j

Its worth a go and following through if you can remember a flight delay!

When did you refer this to CAA and how long did they take to respond?
  • my flight was 2hrs 55 min late on landing :( how convenient. lol

I'm not the sort of person who generally makes compensation claims (for anything) as things can, and do, just go wrong. I might be lucky that not many things have ever gone wrong for me - maybe that's why I don't claim compensation (IYSWIM).

However, I will be claiming against Olympic for a 9hr delay last September because they knew about it for 2 days beforehand and instead of trying to warn us/alter the schedule or something more sensible, they just chose to let us all turn up and wait! The airport (shops and restaurants) closed around us and it was a rubbish start to our holiday, my birthday and our 1st wedding anniversary celebrations.

I will use the CAA template letter in the first instance and will try to remember to let you know how I get on.
If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.

    Dear Martin

I followed your template for a delayed flight which was back in 2007 and was over three hours late, I have just had an email from Ryanair saying it is outside the 2 year claim period. I thought from your information the timescale would have been ok, so not happy!!!

    Any suggestions anyone.

    Thanks

    Yes read the FAQ's !!!!
  • You have the option to cancel if you so prefer and make your own arrangements.

The current flight prices have nearly doubled and that is why I did not go to the cancellation option
