We were supposed to fly Easyjet from Gatwick to Funchal on this past 24th of December. The plane came back to the airport 'because of strong winds in the island'. We were given hotel and food and, as Easyjet doesn't fly on the 25th, had the flight rescheduled to the 26th, missing 2 nights at the hotel in Funchal. Later we found out that only the Easyjet flight didn't land on the island, Monarch and Tap did. Are we eligible for compensation? Thanks for the help.0

And, I forgot to mention, it was a Expedia package.0

We booked a holiday in September 2006 with ARGO holidays for departure September 2007 for our daughters wedding. 10 days before departure we tried to book her wedding dress on to the carrier Excel Airways and were told there was no such flight? we were now flying with Flyjet, a low budget airline who were going out of business in October 2007. They went out of business while we were away, we were told as we were getting on the coach home and also told we had a 16 hr + delay and were being flown home by someone else almost 24 hrs late. We origanaly complained to our tour operator and ARGO and were informed we had no case as they put us in a hotel and fed us.0

There is also a different address on the form specifically for these claims which is
EU Delay Claims
Thomson Airways
Wigmore House
Wigmor Lane
Luton
LU2 9TN
Thanks for that info Roswell1976...
I sent my first letter to Thomson's "After Travel Customer Support" at the same address that you quoted here - no reply.
I sent the second to Thomson Airways at the Crawley address - no reply.
I am sending my third and final NBA to the EU Delay Claims department this afternoon. Hopefully I will get a response this time!0 -

I would expect something along the lines of a bird strike to come within this remit as it is outside the normal operations of an aircraft.
What I meant earlier was, if this flight was damaged outside the normal operartions, then the wooly area is whether it is the airlines fault regarding the subsequent delays that result from this plane not operating.
With the greatest respect tomawest, you need to read up a little more, as you are confusing people while you are 'speaking out loud'.
If a bird strike was to happen once every 3 or 4 years, then yes, that *could* be deemed extraordinary.
But several bird strikes happening on a weekly basis hardly makes it an unusual event, does it?
People, and moreover airlines, are missing the point of the EU ruling. It's all about greater protection for PASSENGERS. Not the inconvenience to an airline in having to get their act together and provide a more pronto service.
Have a look at my posts on page 222, numbers 4423 - 4424.

Is this avoidance tactics?
I presume the best thing to do is send them a second letter, but should i state i will seek guidance from the CAA within 14 days, or should i just threaten them with the small claims court straight away?
Is there a template follow-up letter?

I agree - but would be blunter: tomawest is talking tripe.
We're fortunate to have two or three experts on this thread. But whilst none has a monopoly of wisdom, and anyone can have a view, it's unhelpful to present misleading (ie wrong) opinions as fact. The thread will quickly lose its value if that happens, I'm afraid.0 -
Goodfella - I made my inital request for comp Feb 2011, put it on hold until appeal result this October. I have written on 8/11 24/11 and 6/12 with NO response from Jet2 other than repeatedly requesting the same information that they have already been given 3 times before. I do not think it unreasonable to now go to court. Not a single thing from them since 22/11. Thats 6 weeks. The last 2 letters were LBA so they know what's coming!
We had our letter on 20December, stating that the will reply in strict order date. I am guessing, it's a delaying tactic. I think in 14 days, I will send the LBA and if no joy, court he we comeLoved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0
