Hi, if you find out from TC what the actual cause of the delay was & you then go a prove that it was not exceptional circumstances they will argue that it was e.c. This happened to me & I had the proof, hardly heard of anybody getting compensation. They have been very nasty with me & I am still wondering if I should go to court. At the moment I am waiting to hear from the Greek CAA who wrote to them a month &have had no reply, TC deny having received it0

Gorbar, TC have to prove 'extraordinary circumstances' despite 'reasonable measures' not you.
They are doing it to save money, if they're being nasty perhaps develop a thick skin and continue your claim.
Your post and others pop up in google searches so many will get to know what they are like at head office.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
...I was being helpful and trying to stop numpty questions but lost interest when it was still apparent (and still is) that no-one reads them:rotfl:
TBHO the MSE team should be doing this.
Yes they should and MSE Martin needs to set higher standards amongst his journalist team.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Hi, we had a four hour delay on our Thomas Cook flight back from Palma to Manchester in September this year.
I requested compensation from TC under EU Regulation 261/2004.
This is the response i have had from them, can anyone help me.
Dear Mr Drumm,
I write further to our acknowledgement of 12 December 2012.
It is with regret that I note your flight with us was delayed. Whilst delays are an accepted part of air travel, I would like to assure you that a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to ensure that any disruption to our passengers is kept to an absolute minimum.
When a delay is initially identified, it is not always immediately apparent as to when a revised take off time can be secured. A number of factors have to be considered, which can vary dependent on the reason for the delay, and quite often we are reliant on outside influences, such as Airport Authorities or Air Traffic Control. Throughout, however, as soon as confirmed information is available, this is passed onto our customers as quickly as possible through our handling agents at the airport.
Unfortunately delays can arise for a number of different reasons, and having carried out a full investigation the specific circumstances surrounding the delay to your own flight were extraordinary, despite Thomas Cook taking all reasonable precautions necessary to prevent the situation. I can see that customers were provided with welfare during the delay, in line with our obligations under EU Regulation 261/2004. As the events were defined as “extraordinary” no payment of compensation is considered appropriate in this case.0 -

Would having been paid some previous compensation for a flight delay exclude me from reapplying(I received a £50chq for a 48hr! delay in Oct 2005)?
ps while https://www.flightstats states our rescheduled flight was on time, from our scheduled departure it was 48 hrs late.0 -

Yeah, I sort of get the same feeling. I don't mind helping but the thread is becoming overly long by the repetition of the same, or similar, questions.
The answers in 99% of cases have already been given people, please look before asking.
I'll continue to monitor the thread and answer anything unusual that perhaps I can help with, but I'll be back at work soon and won't have the time to answer all and sundry. Sorry.

I take it you haven't read the FAQ's, just 15 posts above yours then?0
