    Hello,

Yesterday my flight was diverted due to fog from Stansted to Gatwick. The inbound flight had been diverted to Gatwick and was unable to amend their software to get back to Stansted so all 180 passengers were bused from airport to airport on 4 buses (one of which broke down!).
On arrival at Gatwick the handling agent - Swissport had no idea we were coming! Then security werent informed as the boarding passes all stated Stansted! Then once we got through to departures no flight information!
Went up to airport information they told me to phone Swissport, who were permanently engaged. Only when I insisted on the Duty Airport Manager being called in did we get told it was going from gate 90 (they could at least put out a call!) and by the way, its leaving now !!
You couldnt make up the incompetence of the Ryan Air handling agent.
Once on board the flight most people expected some sort of drink or snack but the crew refused making clear it was more than their jobs worth.
So no food vouchers or snack, well over 3 hours delay, is this in itself a breach of EU 261? Should I be seeking compensation from Ryanair? I realise the fog is not their fault. We landed at Alicante at 1900 over 5 hours late!

Interestingly, you haven't edited out your name from your posts, do you want to be identified on a public forum, airlines do read this!
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • Blindman's helpful aide-memoire, repeated several times over the last few days has the answer. MSE's article is incorrect.

But your response from Easyjet is interesting in its own right since I believe other claimants from the same airline have received correspondence stating that the limit is 2 years!

Perhaps you could reproduce the letter from the airline in full, removing your personal details first.

Apologies as I was obviously only half awake when I posted my question. The reply in question was from FlyBE not Easyjet. Sorry for the confusion.

Unfortunately, fog caused delays are beyond the airlines control, therefore there's no case for compo here. Sorry.

    Blindman,
Monarch have now issued a new, more searching, claim form, as detailed by a poster named as 'Charltonfan'.
    Here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/fimcgnqennoear1/EU%20Compensation%20Claim%20Form%20for%20a%20Delayed%20flight%20%281%29.pdf

Perhaps it might be worth including this link in your oft repeated FAQ's?
  • Any one remember the details of this flight, the delay was about 8 hours, think it was Easyjet, sat in airport til they sent a rescue flight around 3.00am, no food offered, nothing at all on plane, they did not even have water. Staff in airport went home, everything closed, no info.

After resubmitting my claim for delay compensation to AA after the recent ruling I received the following response from AS

"With the recent outcome of the court ruling in favor of passengers who have been inconvenienced due to flight cancellations/delays that they should be compensated in monetary terms. However, as an airline we are not obligated by this ruling to make monetary payments for flights delayed/cancelled before the court ruling date of October 23. We are sorry to inform you that we have to deny your request for monetary compensation"

So if I read this right the are claiming the ruling enforces compensation for delay but quotesthe slate clean for them?
