Covered in post 2919 yesterday morning. Link is here: http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=2211&pageid=14023

Thanks Centipede - I missed this one! Am I right in thinking the Monarch 'list' far exceeds the extraordinary circumstances outlined by the CAA ie they have taken liberties in interpretation?

Link still won't work because you need to copy and paste the whole link, you cannot copy the link from my post you need to open up the dropbox link itself!!

    Work network won't let me.

    I'll do it later
  • Just out of curiosity and because the CAA has been mentioned a couple of times lately. Has anyone contacted them after the latest ECJ ruling? I tried to revive my case number but they have been quite silent, even though they sent this automatic reply that they would get back to me within 2 weeks.

Friend of mine had a long outbound flight with a Monarch flight on 1st Nov ZB472 BHX to SSH (Sharm El Sheik)

Flight stats does not show the official time of landing and I can't find anywhere what was the possible cause of the diversion to Cairo-Where they stayed on the 'plane for about 3-4 hours. arriving about 4 hours late at SSH

She's writing to Monarch CS *() but thought if I could dig about and get reliable info ;) it may help.

Are there any good\better sources of airline incidents etc?

I've looked at PPRUNE, Aviation Herald etc.

It's a waste of time TBHO as they have no powers to make an airline pay up. It's up to you to pursue them in court if they won't play ball.

I know. But I found them quite helpful before the claims were stayed since they sent me copies of their letters to BA, which theoretically can be used as templates for any legal proceedings to be launched. ;)
  • I would only accept cash of 600 euros not a voucher which has restrictions and doesn't cover taxes..

    Dear Centipede100,

thank you for your assist. As you suggested, we have contacted the airline for the 600 EUR (cash). The fast and friendly customer service is indeed the asset of the five-stars-airline company.

We are happy to receive positive response on our inquiry. Let see how fast the cash will arrive to our bank accounts.

We'll keep you (and other who is interested to know how it goes) on the future progress.

    All the best for passengers!
  • I used the MSE template letter to claim EUR250 for a 5 1/2 hour delay. I posted the letter, a copy of my boarding pass, a copy of easyjet's email confirming the flight had been delayed (which customer services had sent automatically, the day after the flight) and a copy of the web page from flightstats.co.uk that stated the delay.

7 days later and I have received an email confirming easyjet are crediting me with EUR250 and apologising for the inconvenience.

Great customer service from easyjet and great advise from MSE - many thanks!

  • I would always respond using a written and posted reply. Dont pay for registered, get a free proof of postage at the PO counter.

Thanks, I'll do that and let you know how I get on.
