I was delayed on a flight in 2007 due to technical problems, The flight was delayed 24 hours and I had to stay in a hotel. I did write a letter of complaint at the time be no compensation was offered at that time. The problem is that Globespan airline has gone bankrupt and have ceased trading as far as I know.....Can I still make a claim to the administrators???? or is there any way to make a claim????

    Unfortunately not :(

how do i find out the number of a flight with thomson in 2010 going out of marrrakesh - i know it was delayed by several hours (my sis was extrememly unwell in airport - nightmare) and the exact date 10.11.10 but nothing else remains - tried looking on the flight status site but they seem to need the flight number

Login, go to flight status, choose the airport tab, choose the date and select Marrakech and have a look :)

    Hi all,

My 3 friends and I were delayed for 6hrs on our return flight from Dublin to Stansted on 19th June 2011.

As we didn't know we could make a claim until now, we didn't keep any paperwork so don't have the booking reference but we know the time and date of the flight and I have determined the flight number from looking at future flights at the same time on the Ryanair website.

It's not very obvious how to make a claim on the Ryanair website (surprise, surprise!) so is it best to write a letter and have it sent by recorded delivery! And to which address?

Thanks for your help with this.

If you look on the flightstats website it should show you there how long that specific flight was delayed although I have just checked now and couldn't see any flights to stansted on that day :/

:) Hi in 2008 we got delayed 23hrs on the way back from the canaries. we got put up in a hotel for the night, with a voucher towards the cost of a meal. what i want to know is are package holiday flights included????

Yes they are. Look up the flight on flightstats (you need to create an account) to confirm the exact length of delay.

  • Does anybody know if I booked 8 flights on my credit card and we were delayed 18 hours, if I have to claim for all the people I booked for or if they have to claim for themselves?

    Hi all,

Me and my wife had a 6-7 hour delay on 20 May 2011,flight 2564,we booked with travel republic but flew with Thomson, we departed from manchester to Corfu, we were given £6 vouchers each,
Who would we claim from Thomson or Travel republic?
Can we claim back any expenses e.g Airport lounge fee's etc?
Any idea if successful how much compensation we would be due?

    Thanks
    Simon

It's early days yet and airlines seem to be making up their own rules.
Monarch, for instance, are requiring each person on the booking to make their own claim, - and that means each person has to send in either an original booking confirmation or their boarding card. A paperwork avalanche ensues at Monarch HQ :(

Thanks Centipede100, the lady at Monarch told her she needs to wait for them to send her a claim form and that they are not available yet as their lawyer is still looking over the paperwork from a court case at the end of October so she has to wait for her to send her one, can this be right? She was just going to send them the letter she filled in from the template from this website. Do you think she should wait for them to send a form or go ahead and send the letter she has already done?

That's interesting. Monarch have already sent me a claim form which i've filled in and returned.
It's at post number 2153 on page 108 of this thread.

I know that this thread is now becoming overly long, but it's a shame as useful info is now buried.
Had you have read this thread in it's entirety you would have known about my claim form.
I'm now beginning to speculate about whether people are really going to have the appetite to take their claims all the way through to court. As Centipede says, this is not going to be a simple letter writing exercise and €500 drops through your letterbox a few days later.
So having the stamina to read through a long thread like this in order to discover useful information might just be the start.

With Ryanair it is highly likely that you will have to go to Irish Small Claims Court (Swords) as they will firstly probably not respond at all and even if they do they will deny any responsibility. You will need tenacity and patience to pursue so if you intend doing so you will need to ensure there was a technical problem with the aircraft etc etc. If after all this you determined to proceed write to their registered office (proof of posting from PO is sufficient) and, at this stage, only ever include copies of any information you send them.
  • We were delayed for 5 hours flying out to Tenerife from Manchester in August, however the reason for the delay was a safety issue with the plane. After about 3 hours they then said they were then waiting for a standby crew as the current one cannot fly as they would have worked too many hours. Wonder if I will get anywhere with a claim?
