  • My flight was cancelled due to French ATC, whilst I know I may not be entitled to flight delay compensation, surely if I was not given a return flight for 6 days - My accommodation should be covered - Ryanair are disputing this and keep saying I do not have the relevant receipts. How can I proceed  ?

Do you have the relevant receipts?

I’d welcome advice on my recent situation to see if EasyJet might cover costs for ANY of the additional accommodation I had to get.

we were due to fly to Venice on Sunday 30th July returning on Sunday 6th Aug. When we arrived at Gatwick on the 30th July we found our flight had been cancelled and we had been moved to a flight a day earlier. I did not receive the email and guess it went into junk but I do check that everyday. Anyway upshot was they got us into a flight the following morning, Mon 31st but we had to get 2 rooms at Gatwick for the night (£380!)

Our return flights had also been cancelled on Sunday 6th Aug and we’d been moved to one on Monday 7th Aug meaning I also had to book another nights stay in Italy (£250).

can I try to claim expenses from EasyJet, even for the return journey as we were forced to spend an extra night abroad? I’m guessing flight schedules were changed 2 weeks before but I hadn’t seen so I understand no compensation but hoping return expenses may be a possibility?

    thank you

Personally I'd submit claims for two sets of cancellation compensation and two nights overnight accommodation, the worst that can happen is they're rejected.

Strange that you can't find any notification of either cancellation, but regulation 5(4) puts the ball in the airline's court on that:
The burden of proof concerning the questions as to whether and when the passenger has been informed of the cancellation of the flight shall rest with the operating air carrier
The outbound hotel may be questionable, but the one for the inbound flight is less so if they'd rebooked you onto the following day's flight.  Note that compensation isn't payable if a cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances (or if notified more than two weeks in advance), but the airline is still on the hook for accommodation costs regardless of the root cause.

Thank you, this is really helpful. I see there are two ways to claim on easyJet site, either compensation or expenses. Do you know which applies to me? And I guess I put original flight dates, not the ones we eventually went on? The EasyJet forms are very short with no option to explain. Thanks again :)

I'd submit two of each, i.e. four claims in total, and yes, use the original flight dates as documented on your booking confirmations, which, to the best of your knowledge, hadn't been superseded.

Hi everyone, would really appreciate some advice:

Last year I raised a complaint with my airline regarding a flight that landed more than 3 hours after it was supposed to. They refused to compensate me so I raised this with Resolver, and after supplying all relevant information they said they were escalating it to the CAA. The CAA contacted me in December 2022 to say they had received my complaint and would contact the airline directly and would aim to respond to me within 10 weeks. It has now been 8 months. I sent them an email in June but have received no reply.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experiences such a delay in hearing back from CAA, and if there is anything I can do to speed up a response from them?

    Thank you so much!

KLM refusing to pay compensation for cancelled flight resulting in 14hour delay because we were flying from Dubai back to Glasgow via Amsterdam and therefore not in Uk . Is this right?

That rationale for not paying doesn't make any sense, no - a flight with an EU airline to the EU and then to the UK would be eligible for compensation under the EU regulations and/or the UK ones.

Are you able to copy/paste the full explanation or share a redacted scan of what you've received?
