Compensation for delayed flights Discussion Area

Hi
Myself, husband and daughter were bumped off our EasyJet flight a week ago
The flight was Larnaca to Liverpool, we then had to choose a flight back that night but it only went to London and was with a different airline (Jet2)
Now we have claimed the taxi payment back and have also had the claim for comp processed at 500euro each
When I quieried this amount EasyJet said 500 euros is what it said on the system from Larnaca ground crew
The flight is over 3500km
Easyjets web page states
EUR 600 per customer for all flights of 3500km or more. If you transfer onto a flight which arrives at your destination less than 4 hours later than the original scheduled time of arrival, this will be reduced to EUR 300.
MSE state
3,500km+ (flights between an EU and non-EU airport), eg, London to New York 4+ hours €600 (£540)
My question is which is correct and if 600euro is there any scope of claiming the rest back, taking into consideration the claim has been processed but not yet paid back“You’re only here for a short visit.
Don’t hurry, don't worry and be sure to smell the flowers along the way.”Walter Hagen
Jar £440.31/£667.95 and Bank £389.67/£667.950 -
You are correct, the amount should be €600 each.
Gretcircle mapper hows the distance to Liverpool as 3509, whcih is your final destination, NOT London.
Airlines are either stupid or try to play the game in reducing claim payouts (more likely the latter)
Write back pointing out your final destination was Liverpool which is 3509 by the great circle method and that you arived here over 4 hours later. Give them 14 days to pay and mark your email/letter as an NBA/LBA.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

Hi there,
Just back from a trip with SAS and got a bit of a complex one which I would welcome opinions on.
We flew back from Athens to Birmingham. We were about 50 mins late boarding, and then sat on the tarmac for quite a while, so I was already a bit nervous about making our connection (we had 2 hours to change planes). They said that the delay was due to heavy air traffic in Copenhagen. We finally started our taxi to the runway, at which point this guy suddenly starts walking down the plane saying he doesn't have a seat! The flight was completely full, but despite them saying that boarding had completed around 15 minutes previously, they hadn't noticed that he was stood around without a seat. They asked for his documents to establish where he was meant to be sat, and then I think quickly realised when he couldn't produce anything that he wasn't meant to be on the flight. At this point we were a reasonable distance from our gate, and had to wait for police to come for the guy, and buses to take us back to the gate whilst they searched the plane. By the time we finally got going we had no chance of making our connection, and so we ended up spending the night in Denmark, and in the end arrived home about 10 hours later than we should have done.
Looking at the delay compensation rules, it seems that it wouldn't count if the delays were due to safety concerns. However:
- We were already heavily delayed and at risk of meeting our connection
- The airline have to be at fault here in the fact he got on the plane in the first place - we came in through a sky tunnel, so it's not like he sneaked in from the tarmac
- If the cabin crew had noticed before we taxied that there was a passenger without a seat then it would arguably have been dealt with a lot quicker as we wouldn't have had to wait for ground crew to come and retrieve us from the plane.
Still staggered it happened to be honest. If the plane weren't full meaning he didn't have a seat, I am convinced he would have managed to fly.
Any thoughts on where I stand here?
Thanks!0 -
I think you have a valid claim for all the reasons that you state.
Al the events leading up to the police arriving (the security isue) were al within the airlines control or responsibility, therefore no EC.If you're new. read The FAQ and Vauban's Guide

We have booked two return tickets Eurowings Stansted to Cologne .this is for 25/09/19 return 02/10/19.
Yesterday we were notified by E mail that we had a flight change outbound from Heathrow return to Stansted.
We can get to Heathrow by Tube free as we are Pensioners but would have difficulty from Stansted as we would have to use the car, as there is no direct route by Public transport. What are our rights regarding any form of compensation. or because the airline has notified us 3 weeks in advance we have to arrange alternative means at our cost which is mainly additional time as I am considering taking my car to Stansted area on 24/09/19 and making my own way back at minimal cost.0 -

Hi,
They must pay any reasonable additional cost of getting from Stansted to Heathrow, or another destination agreed with the airline.
I believe there is a regular coach and train service into London but I don't have any details, Google is your friend.
Good luck. Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -

Went through all the steps on Moneyasavingexpert to apply for compensation after a 27 plus hour delay from Oporto to Manchester via Lisbon flying with TAP September 2018. TAP said we weren't entitled to anything, so as instructed contaced ADR. After months of toing and froing ADR awarded us 250 euros each in June. TAP didn't pay and the claim was escalated, now more months on, TAP still hasn't paid and ADR isn't answering our messages. Contacted chief exec of CAA but no help from there. Where do we go from here?0

Collegian. These things happen. Enjoy the 19 nights you will have. After all, you wouldn't have wanted to spend the other two nights under a hurricane.0
