have a look at Vauban's Guide. Assuming all on one ticket, claim would be against the airline that delayed you (BA) and whether compensation is due or not would depend on the reason for the initial delay
  • Hi,

I claimed for compensation from a WestJet flight in April. We were flying from Gatwick to Toronto and our flight was over 4 hours late but only just.

WestJet have awarded us 300 Euros each, as they are saying the flight was delayed by 3hours 56minutes and therefore, under the 4 hour allowance. I have tried to find an independent record of the delayed flight but it seems to just be the timings provided by WestJet.

Does anyone know how to query this? It seems very convenient that WestJet have stated that the flight arrived 4 minutes under the highest compensation claim.

I have screenshots of the delay but not the time when the aircraft doors opened. This was however, over the 4 hour mark.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Put your flight details in to bottonline and EuClaim they should tell you the amount you are due

Strawberries1, I suspect you had two different bookings as BA and UA do not code share, not even in the same alliance. If you booked separately, or worse used some on line agent who put them together, then your only possible claim is against BA and then only if their flight was more than 3 hours late arriving in Dublin. This is the risk of separate bookings on different airlines, BA wouldn't have even checked your bags beyond Dublin and you appear to have had the luck of the Irish to be offered a seat on a later flight by UA. They could have said you were too late checking in so buy another ticket. It may be a case of counting your blessings rather than counting your compensation

can be booked with BA/UA flight numbers on one ticket with United
or with EI codeshare numbers for the BA/UA flights with EI so I do suspect this was one ticket
  • Quick update re ASL.

I called the number on the email, no reply, sent a message via Facebook, no reply. Finally found a contact number on the Facebook page and spoke to a real life human being!! She was very helpful and gave me a different email address to file my claim to. So I've done that, including the which claim letter and scanned copies of our boarding passes. Here's hoping I hear back!

    Thanks!

Seems Duty of Care automated payment (airport delays) instead of hand-out vouchers may be coming to an airline/airport near you....

If only delay claims were dealt with in the same way.

You're right! The flights had EI codeshare numbers and I booked it as one ticket with Opodo. My luggage was checked in all the way through.

We had two reasons for the delay. First was luggage had to be taken out as some passengers didn't board and then we had to change a tire. This took ages so I slept off.

    Hi all.

I have received and email this morning informing me that a a flight I was due to fly on has been cancelled. I have read the guide and I'm still unsure.

Could anyone advise as to what I am entitled to please?

The flight was for August and is with Blue Air travelling within Europe.

    Can I also get compensation?

    Thanks
