  • I knew that but had forgotten

Really makes no difference IMHO - if you try finding reviews on it under either Cover4Pets or NCI there are none :(

    After some digging found this

Optimum pet insurance is a new and exciting insurance plan which NCI have developed with leading veterinary surgeons,

There are still no reviews - they seem to be a secret society.
  • So today I called and got my insurance renewal. It has gone from 29.77 a month to 161 which is a 535% I will most certainly by going through a complaints procedure

under existing conditions they've listed "none" when he has had a couple of treatments and claims under the Axa policy - I've asked for clarification.

Update - no clarification was forthcoming so I called again yesterday. Apparently the "pre-existing conditions" section should be blank because they're not pre-existing, they're ongoing. I'm not entirely convinced, but anyway - in that case I asked if they would send written confirmation of his ongoing conditions.

"No problem, claims have that info, let me transfer you"

    Guess what claims said?

"No problem, customer service have that info, let me transfer you"

The guy in CS has promised to find the details and call me back. I'm not holding my breath.....
  • My nci policy is due to start on the 28th,;but i'm going to switch to directline, but Nci have taken thier money already, even though i haven't signed their credit agreement. I should get that back shouldn't i? I'm away at the moment, very intermitent wifi or phone coverage.

I took your advice today and rang NCI - with a great deal of trepidation I must admit. The young man I spoke to sounded rather nervous as he ran through the cover and I swear I heard him gulp right before he gave me my new quote!!
As of next month, my whippet girl will cost £69 a month to insure. Currently we're paying £48 and given that we've had some extremely large ongoing claims over the last 3 policy years ( almost £20,000) I'm very happy with that increase :T We're lucky that we have some easily accessible savings, so speed of paying out on claims isn't a big issue, but just need the paperwork to tally with the phonecall now ;)

May I ask what you have claimed for in the past? Trying to work out why mine has gone from £29 to £161 a month

She has had an auto immune condition and associated complications due to the treatment - immunosuppressants can be very harsh on the body!!

I'd hazard a guess that my lower premium is mainly thanks to the fact that she's a whippet. As a breed they 're not predisposed to any illnesses and according to the Vet Hospital are very rarely ill.

I've checked back over the past 6 Policy years and this years increase is in line with what's been applied previously, which I'm obviously extremely grateful for.

Contact your bank asap and dispute the charge.
  • I am absolutely RAGING

Just logged into online banking to treble check with seeing so many of you having had payments taken and

They have taken money from my account:mad:

AND as it's my d/debit account (which I only put a set amount into each month), it's made me go overdrawn  (and there is no OD on this account so I'll be heavily charged)

This is despite me not signing the credit agreement AND writing to them to advise that I would not be taking out the policies!
