I made my first batch of these yesterday with gluten free flour and baking powder instead of s.r. flour. I actually only made 1/2 a batch as I hate wasting the expensive flour I need to use. They were absolutely delicious and worked a treat. Only trouble is they were so more ish I have no more left! Am going to try them with honey next time instead of syrup as I think they will be like the expensive honey and oat cookies which we adore from M & S.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. this is the recipe i use
8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown
I was wondering if once they were mixed and shaped on the tray if they could be put in the freezer at that stage (put in a bag once frozen)and then baked from frozen on another day? I'm trying to make sure I really fill my oven to save on electricity and having something like this to just quickly take out and bake while I'm baking other stuff would be great. Anyone tried this?0 -

I've just made some of these to see what all the fuss was about. They are so successful with my family that I need to make another batch for next week's lunchboxes!! Thanks Twink. It's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.0

well done to you for making such a good job of them0 -
Hi Twink
Just made my first 1/2 batch with wholemeal flour and honey and they gorgeous, will be trying some of the other suggestion.
Couple of questions, should they be soft in the middle or crispy as not sure if I made them too thick, and can you freeze cooked biscuits?
Thanks again
