no Debbie it isnt quite the same thing though i have left out the bic soda by mistake and not seen much difference

Thank you Twink, I will give them a go without the bicarbonate of soda and see what happens - if I go to the supermarket to buy some I'll only end up spending cash on things I don't need! I'm having a day off today and these biscuits sound yummy so I fancy making a batch now! :)

the recipe states 60 biscuits but i usually get about 50, flatten quite well with the fork as they wont spread very much

Frugalista i am doing mine just now with treacle, might be too much with the molasses sugar as i used white and you get a nice treacle flavour

GreenManGO good luck at the fete with them

    thanks for the info sandy

Thank you they went down a strom aloing with weetabix brownies (also a recipe thanks to everyone on the forum!) people came back for seconds and took bags of 6 away with them!

Anzac biscuits are very like hobnobs. Damn! Now I'm going to have to go and make some!

...but Anzac biscuits have COCONUT <bleah!!!> in them - nothing like the true oaty goodness that is the Hobnob!

Woolworths and Coles in Oz now stock plain and milk choc Hobnobs though not the Plain Choc Hobnob, alas.

well considering the recipe states you get 60 biscuits, though i get about 50 there wouldnt be that much sugar in each biscuit, anyway the fact that there are a lot of porridge oats in the recipe means that the sugar is absorbed slowly, you dont get the peak and low you would with say eating sweet biscuits which make them ideal for my dgs who has diabetes, if he is doing a long walk or sport the biscuits keep him on an even keel and prevent him having a hypo

Martin thanks for your insert only noticed it today, no need to apologise for the recipe not being in the poll
you will have to give the hobnobs a go as they are so quick to make, once you add the butter be sure to mix it in quite quick

I reduce the sugar by half and might even reduce it a tad more, might try reducing the fat content as well.
Hat anyone done a nutritional breakdown for Twinks eg, carbs, protein, sugars, fats etc, preferably not per biscuit (as we all get different amounts) but by 100gr...like they do on bought food. If anyone has, please point me in the right diection, if they haven't could anyone do it please
    Thanks
