You could blow me down with a feather! I thought I'd posted a couple of days ago about my latest batch of hobnobettes .... it's vanished
[just like the biscuits ..:o]
Anyway, I was due to have a few people around for a fundraising afternoon tea so decided to make some small Twinks. Made the recipe, got ..... wait for it ....
90:eek:
yes, NINETY, hobnobettes out of one batch.
I got so many because I only used a teaspoonful for each biscuit. They came out lovely and crisp, and about half as big again as a 50p piece. Quite ample for a freebie with a cuppa, methought .
So, anyone got any more out of a batch?
[I'm polishing The Twink Frugal Medal as we speak, so I hope I win it! :rotfl:]If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -
DdraigGoch no idea where your post went but to get ninety thats a record the recipe says sixty, i think the medal is bound to be yours

Does anyone know how much it cost to make hobknobs and how much it works out per biscuit?
elliesmum worked it out using the original recipe with margarine and the ingredients worked out at 65p, prices will have one up since then though
getting 850g of biscuits that was 8p per 100g
shop bought hobnobs were 22p per 100g
of course if you get 59 or 90 biscuits that makes them even cheaper0 -
I just worked it out and it costs 80p now
8oz sr flour 6p (39p for 1.5KG)
8oz sugar 20p (£1.64 for 2KG)
8oz porridge oats 14p (59p for 1KG)
8oz margarine 36p (72p for 500g stork - gone up from 48p last week though!)
1tbsp golden syrup 3p (73p 454g pouring bottle)
1tbsp hot water 0p
1/2 tsp bic soda 1p (40p tub)
