Haere mai twink - carbooting plans have disintegrated so I'm about to make some of your not Anzac biccies(will I be shot?)to take to Reach Fair(the oldest in the country and pleasingly hurdy-gurdy ish and def. not modern)this arvo. Rang someone(ex-Uni) I recognised across a field there 3 years ago and we found we live not far from each other and that our contact falls away when we don't mean it to. Perhaps it's because we spend much of our time living in our heads in other places - she, Portugal; me, France.
Anyway - your biccies and a Hawkes Bay bottle will be my part of our latest Hello today.

Gosh - I increased ingredients by 50%, added some ginger essence(Reduced to clear, 7p@MrT recently)and chopped choc - and have over 5 doz!
Wine will be a good South African bottle instead.

they are actually called crunchies but i always called them oat biscuits, page 79

hope you have a lovely day at Reach fair Ampersand, with 5 doz hobnobs you could feed everyone there :D

glad everyone is still enjoying them
• How funny! I was actually looking through my copy of this book only yesterday (it was a birthday present from an ancient aunt back in 1978 - she wrote in it- and I've used it heaps) - and found the recipe!! I was very glad to see it as I'm forever reprinting it off the computer and now I have it in print (and metric measurements too as I'm not very good with ounces nowadays).

Thanks Twink though for bringing it to our attention - I made a huge batch yesterday and they've all but disappeared already.
