I've read so much about these I'm going to try them tomorrow.

    1. What size should each "ball! be - walnut sized?

    2. How much should I flatten them?

    3. How many on a 15" sq baking tray?

Sorry for all the questions - off work at the mo with a bad leg & can't stand for very long so want to get it right 1st time. :o

yes kazzaw, walnut shell sized, i get about 46 from the mix, just press down quite lightly with a fork, my tin is 15x10 inch and i get four rows of three, just melt the butter and no more

I first made these biscuits 2 weeks ago. The first batch were a little soft, but very yummy. I have a fan oven and with a bit of experimentation discovered I needed to set the oven to 140C.
I have since made another 2 batches. DH loves them as much as I do.
My intention was to take some into work and share with colleagues.

    They never make it. :o

First time around I used Jordan's organic oats. Big meaty ones, this time around I used the cheapy value stuff from the Co-op. Just as tasty.

Think I will make some near Christmas for the older rellies. I must remember to look around for suitable tins.

Grateful thanks to the OP.:T :j

glad you like them belair, always thought the fan ovens were 20 less than the ordinary electric oven ie 180oc would be 160oc in fan oven, but if it works for you thats ok, everyones ovens are different anyway

have already agreed to make loads to sell for the PFA cake stall on 4th Aug.:D they have one on the 1st sat of the month from april to sept.they average out about £200 a time. which for a school that only has just over 60 pupils isn't bad.

donna, i have no idea why you should get a prickly feeling on your tongue, except you didnt put too much bicarb in did you? and it was mixed into the butter? its just butter, oats, sugar and flour nothing much there i wouldnt have thought, you didnt use baking powder did you?
