    Yes and yes.

Otherwise, do what my Mum used to do (greaseproof was imported and stupidly expensive) - get some clean white paper (such as printer paper) and oil or grease it on both sides before using it to line your tin. It works nearly as well as greaseproof paper. If you must use some with a little printing on it, make sure the ink side is away from the food.

I can't get on with foil it seems to stick to everything I make and cause an unholy mess. I just grease the tin. I know... I'm useless!

I got some Teflon type oven sheets and use those.. stuff slides off and the sheets fit my trays perfectly..

Foil should be ok but it is flammable so make sure it does not overhang the edges of the tray especially if you have a gas oven! (this is why you shouldn't line grill pans with foil) It does need greasing though and still sometimes sticks.

How did the hob nobs turn out in the end? Usually when baking cookies I don't bother with parchment or greasing trays particularly if the recipe contains a lot of butter and they don't tend to stick. For recipes with a low butter content I spray trays with cake release spray or sunflower oil.

Really !! Did not know that

I know it's off topic - but what do you use to line a grill pan then ? (PS: Have had both electric and gas grills and never had an issue)

Foil lol... the fire brigade hate me!!

I got a right telling off when they came to extinguish my kitchen.. most people assume it won't burn with being metal and all but a layer of hot fat is all it needs.

I just change it very frequently now.

When making biscuits I often don't bother with greasing, just lightly sprinkle a little flour over the tray and that seems to work fine. It is a little extra washing up though...

I remove the foil every time after it has cooled - so maybe that's why I've got away with it? Still, you live and learn :D
