I made these for the first time last night despite seeing the recipe floating on here for years - they were delish!

I used dairy free marg and halved the quantities, still got 20 big biscuits out of them, didn't have to buy anything in and they are lovely!

hello, long time lurker, first time poster (procrastination is my thing)

I googled a recipe to use up coconut, and long story short, I ended up here, and have just made the hobnob recipe, and slung in some coconut that we had knocking around that needed using up.

The kids won the coconut at the summer school fair, and we finally got around to opening it, to find out they don't like fresh coconut ;/

So....we desiccated the coconut, and staring at it in it's tub on the side every morning was pricking my money saving conscience, so I finally used it in these hobnobs, and OH MY LIFE, they are delicious!!!

Typically, the kids blooming like them !! So, no scoffing them all to myself !!

OOHH Thanks, we love the homemade hobnobs in our house. Haven't made them for a while though and love the idea of putting some coconut it. Perhaps I'll even make some chocolate coconut hobnobs.:)

they certainly went down very well, I made them on Friday, took some on a picnic yesterday, and there are only about half a dozen left here now!
  • I've heard about these biscuits for years, but finally made them the other week! I am currently cutting out wheat and dairy, so used wheat-free flour and sunflower spread instead, but they still tasted yummy! And DH, who can eat whatever he likes, loves them too. They didn't last long! I've had to make another two batches since then! Thanks Twink :)
  • I made these today for our macmillian coffee morning and they look fab (in the oven baking)
    Thanks Twink for recipe

I've posted this else-thread, but I'll pop it here as it might help someone who is in the same position as I was last week.

I'd been looking forward to making Twink's Hobnobs for weeks as I'd heard how wonderful they were, and bought a tin of golden syrup especially. When I went to the cupboard to get the oats out ... no oats. A random lodger had left a huge pile of dried dessicated coconut, so I shoved that in and topped up the weight with a bit of strawberry granola that was going soft and just crossed my fingers.

I don't like coconut, but the result was absolutely delish!
    Better is good enough.
  • Sorry if this has been asked before but the thread is soooooo long! Can you add cocoa powder to them? x
