I know that somewhere on this site there is a recipe for hobnobs. Can anyone kindly point me in the right direction.

Much appreciation for your help XX:D

    Hi puppy,

I've added your post to the homemade hobnobs thread. You can find the original recipe posted by Twink in #post 4, and there are lots of variations in further posts.

I've been wading my way through 108 pages of this thread and wondered if there is some kind of definitive guide? I've gleaned that you can freeze the mix in small balls uncooked or cooked where they become a bit softer. (Yum!) and that it works as a traybake at 170degrees.
Also there are lots of references to variations. Some great ideas but could anyone give some idea of measurements please? eg. Raisins, choc drops, cranberries, coconut ... about 4oz? Ginger, cinnamon, about a teaspoonful? Almond, vanilla, essence a few drops?
Thanks for any advice, great thread but I'm just wanting to get on and make some!!!:)

Just made a batch of 72 biscuits and a tray bake which has produce 20 lovely fingers. Fab recipe and so easy to make. I reduced the sugar by half and added raisins and they are light crunchy and divine!

    Thank you for the post!!

Think it comes down to personal taste really. I add cinnamon/ginger to mine - a teaspoonful of each but maybe try the original first and then add variations later. I dont think you have too be too precise as the mixture is quite forgiving so a handful of raisins or chocolate as you see fit! HTH

Thanks for that you're right. I'm probably worrying too much and should just go for it! :T

    First post, just registered!!

I've just made a batch of these for the second time, adding 100 grams of chocolate cut in pieces and I substituted the margarine for 223 gram of low fat plain yogurt and 223 grams of sunflower oil.

    Baked for 12 minutes, delicious!!!

Did you use marg the first time and if so what was the difference between that batch and the one using yogurt?

I have a batch of home made yog in the fridge, may have a go using that instead of the marg.

    Ta.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this idea, apologies if they have but I bring the mixture up the side of the bowl with a table spoon, flatten it roughly to the depth required then use my smallest (1.3/4"-4.5cm) pastry cutter to cut a disc, pick it up in situ, pop it on to the tray, just gently popping it out with index finger, and repeat, then I use a fork to flatten them slightly, they come out in a nice uniform size and shape, expanding roughly to 2.1/2"-6.5cm, you get the odd misshapen one but then me and the dog are on strict quality control when they come out of the oven lol!!

I made 98 on Sunday, and they are all gone....
    Great idea, thanks for posting.

I haven't made these for years as I made a few times and we got a bit fed up of them.

I am going to buy some oats and bake some tomorrow.

I take a big pinch of the mix and roll it into a ball. Then I use my burger press with one greased paper disc and flatten them onto the tray - makes perfect flat biscuits!

Another great idea, now, where did I put my burger press.....

I haven't got any wax discs left but have been keeping the waxy cereal bags, will cut up one of those ;).
