Does anyone add to the hobnob recipe? I've tried raisins but was thinking about other things I could add that would turn out well. Ideas anyone? Many thanks

I've experimented with swapping the oats for muesli (great) substituting half of the marge for peanut butter (good) and Nutella (not so great but I think I may have got the quantity wrong as they were a bit too soft and chewy)

Right..I made my 1st batch of Twink's hobnobs but as I dont normally eat them Ive got a question..Are they meant to be slightly salty? And if not what can I do now (after baking them) to change it? Thought bout maybe glazing them w/honey?

I only use 6oz sugar every time I make these. It works well. Try it and see!!!

I only use half the amount of sugar when I make them

:(never had a problem with them being salty
and i notice saltiness as my daughter is a kidney patient and i add very little if any salt to food,

did you use particularly salty butter/marg??
accidentally add salt instead of bicarb?

the only problem i ever have with them is they never last long enough as everyone loves them:D

I know this sounds odd, but sometimes I find if you don't normally bake with golden syrup it can give a taste that's difficult to describe but a little bit throat catching (in a good way, not a burnt way) or even salty, where just using plain sugar give a more simple, bland sweetness. Could it be this flavour you're getting?

Just made these for the first time in ages. I've made them because I'm on maternity leave, so I'm furiously baking and batch cooking before the little one gets here. Somehow I think they will be eaten before he/she arrives!

I used trex instead of marg, I tend to just use a little less. I've also done some with choc chips. Not tried them yet but I'm sure they will be scrummy.

    Thanks twink!

Im years behind on this thread :rotfl: and people are still adding so they must be good!!
Im doing my online shop this coming week so i'll be getting the ingredients and making a batch. Hobnobs are my weakness...now i can have them guilt-free (penny-wise anyhow). Gonna try spreading chocolate on half to have chocolate hobnobs too.

    Cant wait,too excited!! :EasterBun
