    hi
I have a big thankyou to give ALL the people on this site. ( will get to link about hobnobs):T
I am a newbie and am desperately trying to work out abbreviations etc ( am rubbish at text speak) We have been through the mill twice and back and finally after two years af hard work got all our money probs under control. Now we dont have any worries cos we dont have any money ,just enough to get by.
I have realized by reading the MSE forums that I am not sad and that other people menu plan, cook from scratch and make a chiken bounce three days!! My motto is make do and mend. I have managed to get my shopping bill down to £80 week for two adults three teens. I use marg tubs to freeze veggie daughters dinners ( cos I make double for her when we want meat) make the kids cycle to their clubs in the summer and I love vinegar. Going to try Stardrops cos they seem popular with the folk on here.
I have been reading about these hobnob biscuits on all sorts of threads they kept appearing so I made some. OOOOH Every one wants the recipe first batch didnt last too long so I will have to split them into two tins and put one at back of cupboard!! ( secret stash for me):D
And best of all you like Flylady hoorah kindred spirits. ( some of my girl friends think Im a little strange)
My biggest pleasure is getting to the end of the month ,everyone has what they need, well fed and watered and I havn't spent more than Ive earnt ( although bank wont let me )
Well thats about me ,So Thanks again for the support.
    xx

I only use 6oz sugar every time I make these. It works well. Try it and see!!!

Thanks, I will try that later in the week, I may feel more like baking if the weather gets cooler.

    Hi everyone

I just baked the hobnob recipe that I found on here yesterday. I'm not a good cook, and can mess up the most basic of things - can anyone tell me what texture these are meant to have? Are they supposed to snap like a hobnob once cool? Mine are crunchy on the outside but more flapjack like on the inside....

    Thanks for any help :)

Most importantly, they do actually taste good... major achievement here!

    Hi,
I've made these a lot now, & they are usually a crunchy hard biscuit with a 'snap' to them. If you didn't flatten them much on the baking tray, I suppose they might get a bit flapjacky in the middle, but if they taste good, what does it matter? I made a tinful this weekend when my sister's family were up & they went down well. My littlest nephew (2) kept saying 'I neeeeeeeed a 'obnob' & soon worked out where they were kept!

mine are always chewy! I get requests to make them from dh's work mates and any family and friends staying. i made a traybake of them today which turned out really well but not as chewy as the biscuit, more cakey so will go back to making the biscuits in future as they are my favourite.

i think everyone makes them slightly differently to their tastes and tweaks the receipe accordingly so as long you as you like them you cant go wrong!! :D

Thank you! I'm well impressed, usually hate everything I make :D
  • Snap here found the recipe yesterday and made some today gave some of the dough to a friend too.I think it depends on how thick you cut the circles ,if you like them chewy and crunchy then cut them thicker, keep them thin for more crunch big thank you to orginal poster of recipe such a yummy biscuit isn`t it !!
