  • I quite often vary them by using honey - and add things that go well with honey such as apple, bananas, nuts etc

    I've used honey, golden syrup, maple syrup and pancake syrup at different times - all have worked brilliantly :T.

    I've been toying with the idea of using treacle and spices, maybe ginger in my next batch but I think I might halve the quantities in case they turn out completely foul

    i have used treacle, i liked them but my dd didnt and cinnamon, ground or preserved ginger chopped and mixed spice work well, not all in the same biscuit though :D

    have never tried them with maple syrup but sounds good, by the way i am in morayshire too, amongst the shortbread and whisky :D
