Just been reading back through this thread and will make them smaller next time even if I have to bake in batches. I got about 20 out of my mix but they are huge! Will aim to double it

i can imagine they are huge lol i usually have to bake mine in batches
not sure about the different powders but baking powder is used to make scones and sponges rise which isnt what we would want with biscuits, try with bic soda next time and see what the difference is, its cheap and handy to have in the house anyway0 -
I want to make the hobnobs today and add coconut. Does anyone know if I should just add this as an extra ingredient or take out some of the flour/oats and replace?
Thanks0 -
Thought...
Would putting the mix in cake tins (you know the 12 hole ones) would be ok?? I think it would solve the spreading issue and make nice uniform biccies.... or would they be more cakeish??
I am going to make my first batch tomorrow as they sound wonderful and also cheap to make x
Many thanks for the recipie x x x0 -
Just wanted to say HI TWINK - and thank you for the easiest recipe in the known universe. I can even do this before school and the little blighters have warm biccies on the way to school - you are a hob nob legend.
YOu are now an even bigger legend up here in Orkney - the recipe is getting passed about like wildfire - hope that is OK - I only ever say Twinks hobnobs
I forgot (sorry)to add the water to begin with (first 3 batches) and found they didn't spread as much and stuff - added water this time - mabye its my measuring....
Kids want to add choc chips to the mix - but I am not too keen.
I also use extra oats instead of flour to roll them into balls and squish them out so we get added oats as well.
I have had to add enough ingredients to make these for the next six months when I do my six month shop. So thank you so much from your fan club up north.
We grow oats here at work and I am going to try making the biccies with our own local oats! Less food milesTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Twinks hobnobs in the oven as I type, with coconut and choc chips. Bought a beautiful large glass jar in Matalan yesterday and DD suggested making hobnobs to go in it! Wonder how long they will be on display?? Until kids come home is my guess.0
