Yeah I like the home made biscuits they all ways seem to taste so much better.

Is there any thing that I can add to it twink, like coconut or sumat. Tried it with raisons and did not like it.

i am not keen on the raisins myself it makes the biscuit too sweet for me but the ginger would be good or i just add some dried ginger or cinnamon to mine, coconut has been used too, take a quick look back through the posts to get some ideas

try sultanas, but cut down the amount of sugar, chopped nuts, chopped glace cherries, coconut, chopped dried fruit, flaked almonds. I found the est thing to do when experimenting was to make up normal mix for main batch, then separate off just a small amount of the mix then add 'new' ingredient to that, say 5 twinks to see if I like the new flavour
I love adding almond essence to mine
  • Dried apricot was on the list I got from the doc (apparently they contain calcium) so did a batch with chopped bits - nomnomnom. Plus oats being good for you as well they are definitely a health food:rotfl:

Thanks guys I am making a batch up today and dnt think I have any extra bits to put in them. I am hoping to add some orange essence thing to see what that does.

Will try the ginger one too, I like to make them and take them with me. Then if I miss breakfast I have it there lol.

    Hi Marthada

I just substiture the honey for the syrup and leave the sugar quantities as is. It seems to be slightly less sweet than the syrup to me but that works well if I am adding fruit or being extravagant and using chocolate.
  • Finally made hob nobs today. I am a really bad cook, but these have turned out great. I hope there are some left for the kids' snack after school. too tasty!!

Can I just ask. How big are your hobnobs (before they go in the oven). My first lot were a bit thick, had to give them another blast in the oven. But mmmmmmmm.:p

roll them into a ball the size of a walnut shell, the recipe says you get 60 so that lets you see the size though i get about 50

as for the honey as mudgekin says just the same as the syrup, a tablespoonful

Threadhead you cant be such a bad cook if you made the hobnobs so well, i just supplied the recipe
