    I've been Money Tipped!
Can someone please tell me which is the best size of tray to use?

I normally use the walnut sized method but thought I would try the traybake method next time.

    Thanks.

I had a ` senior moment` last night when i made a batch - i forgot to put the bicarb in! i would`nt care but i got it out ready lol they taste ok but not the same.
Also i must tell you, last month i went to Spain with hubby & my sister & her hubby who absolutely loves my hobnobs. So much so he asked me to make a batch to take with us, i did, he loved having a brew on the terrace with hobnobs, and even had a Dove come everymorning for some of the crumbs, lol
Am i the only person who has taken these hobnobs in their hand luggage to Spain?
  • I made a batch of these and wrapped them up and will give them to the PTA at my kids school to sell on the parents evening. I think they look nice but think i will need more than the one batch so I'll do another 3 tomorrow night.

well you cant be the worst cook if you did such a good job of the hobnobs, try an all in one sponge recipe next, thats easy
  • Hi,

I tried the hobnobs yesterday and found the mixture to be very dry...
so actually had to add more water(2 tbsp).

I actually had to press each one under a glass to give it a shape. Basically I put the dough ball on the chopping board and then pressed it hard with a pint glass.

does everybody just put spoonfuls on the baking sheet and then press them lightly? And do they just turn up the nice round shapes? Sorry I am very new to Baking and would appreciate any advice.

I have made them before once long back (well dieting at the moment) and as far as I remember they were chewy and soft that time. But this time they are hard...

How does your (sorry Hobnobs') raw mixture look like ?

    Thanks a lot in advance
  • WOW!

I'm a self confessed hob-nob freak... will have to try this out and report back... this really could save me a fortune!

I don't know what they put in the real hob-nobs, but it is certainly addictive! - hopefully it isn't included in the recipe, which will mean I can manage to stop before eating the whole lot!
In the probably unlikely event that I actually post something of use to someone, an ickle vote of thanks would be much appreciated, in fact I might frame it and put it up on the wall next to my cycling proficiency certificate :D

did you have the fat too hot? it just wants to be melted and no more and be ready to mix it in right away
if you look at post 1176 on p59 you will see the raw mix

i just put teaspoon size balls on the tray and press with a fork, they dont come out neatly round though and it depends how long they are in the oven if they are soft or crunchy, hope that helps

luvvabargin hope you enjoy them and save some money
