they look lovely, i might have left them in the oven a bit longer but i like mine crisp, well done to you
In real life they look a bit more browned. That's the thing with food photography, unless you're good at it most things don't look as good in photos. They are soft/moist and yet crispy too. I'll certainly make them again - and now I know what I am doing, it won't take me over 3 hours :)
  • My first attempt - bit of a disaster. I thought I would make just half portion of these as I am on a diet (lol). Halfway through I realised I didn't have enough oats so used half oats, half coconut. Forgot to halve the quantity of syrup, water and bicarb, so they mixed up a bit soggy. Threw in some more flour and coconut. Halfway through the cooking, my other half came home unexpectedly early wanting his pizza, so had to take out the Hobnobs, put in the pizza and resume cooking half an hour later. And do you know what - they were scrummy. A bit chewy, but delicious.

Second attempt - full quantity this time. A bit large, but then I eat just one (at a time!). And authentically Hobnobian. (But truth to tell, I prefer the previous mishaps!!)

Hadn't realised you could freeze them. That could come in very useful for unexpected visitors. Do you them bake them from frozen or do they need to be thawed first?

i have never frozen my mix but imagine they might need to thaw just enough to flatten with a fork slightly but hope that Kuztardd will let us know

I often freeze mine. They freeze well but are a little bit softer. You can always stick them back in the oven to crisp up again!

Linni, I presume you freeze them cooked? If they are a little softer, that could be very useful if they get overcooked which they have if the phone has gone as a crucial time!

Looking at the picture Kuztardd posted it looks as though she might be freezing the dough? Has anyone done this and then baked them when required?
