Well, not bad for a first attempt, I get a strong bicarb taste tho (I did only put in half a teaspoon).
Really had trouble getting them flat as the mix didn't seem to stick together very well, any suggestions any1?
Other than that they're gorgeous!!!!!
Thanks0 -
You don't need to get them flat - they spread out themselves. I think flattening them slightly just helps them not roll around the baking tray!
As for a bicarb taste - not sure why that would be - maybe it wasn't mixed in well and you got most of it in your first biscuit? Not sure.0 -
I use less than half the sugar and they're OK0

melt the marg and syrup then add the bicarb to the tablespoon of hot water and stir into the marg, see if that helps0 -
Made my first batch of these yesterday and they have been a big hit in our house!! (I got about 40 biscuits out of the mixture). They are simply scrummy! And I have been told that I HAVE to make them again :rotfl:
Hubby should be taking some to work for his staff tomorrow but don't think there will be any left!
Something I noticed was, as I have a range cooker with both fan and conventional oven and found that the biscuits were crisper from the conventional oven. But the fan oven cooked them much quicker. Hope that helps someone.
Many thanks Twink for a great recipe. :beer:Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
