Im the older woman in my relationship
Im 6 years older than my OH0 -
There's ten years difference between me and my partner, so I thought there would be lots of negativity and comments when people found out. I have never heard a single person say anything bad about it. People seem to care more about the height difference than the age difference!
Snap! I'm ten years older than my wife (40 & 30) and we don't even think about the age gap... it matters not a jot! We have a 9 year old daughter and twin boys who've just turned 4 and we have an absolute blast. My knees are clearly showing the signs of age but I don't feel too old that I can't keep up with them...! At the end of the day, what has got to do with anyone else? Just saying!Marge... if the bible has taught us nothing else, which it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports like hot oil wrestling, foxy boxing and such and such...! Homer Simpson0 -
It's pretty bad that you have children with a ten year old...
(sorry, first thing I thought of)

Ive recently started dating someone 11 years older than me (Im 32) – I had been telling myself that it could never get serious as I want kids and to get married etc which he has already done and would possibly feel past changing nappies etc but after reading some of the replies on here I might have to re-think!!!0

There's only 6 months between DH and I so not something I have experience of.
DH and I have often discussed this because when he's been out with one of our (grown up) daughters people have sometimes assumed that they are an item. He says he would find it incredibly difficult to have a relationship with a younger woman as they'd have so little in common as so many life experiences wouldn't have been shared over the years. He's talking about everything from music and travelling to education and politics.
I can see where he's coming from but as I have a number of girlfriends a lot older/younger than me I think there's a lot more than age to compatibility.0 -
I went to a hospital appointment with my Dad recently.
The consultant shook hands with Dad & I the asked my relationship to Dad.
Apparantly he's been caught out a lot in the past assuming someone is a son or daughter when actually they are husband, wife or partner so now he always clarifies the relationship.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Why is generally acceptable for a husband to be older that his wife but not the other way around?0

Dunno. I wouldn't mind a toyboy(within reason! wouldn't go chasing someone half my age)

I once made a gaff when I was out with friends. A friend of a friend turned up with a much older man and I said hello XXXX, is this your Dad?, lol.
It wasnt it was her boyfriend.0 -
17 years between myself and OH. We have a five year old daughter and I have two lovely step daughters.
I was married to a man the exact same age as me and I was miserable. Now I am so happy. My partners " step Dad" is actually the same age as him, making an 18 year gap between him and my partners mother.
Someone once said to me, its fine as long as you dont look silly together. Maybe a bit narrow minded but I took her point. When someone looked at a family photograph. Gramma and Grandad look like they are grand parents and OH and myself look like parents.
I think the reason its more acceptable for a man to be older could be because of the child bearing issue. I was 28 when we had our daughter. So still young. My OH step Dad has never had kids. Though he insists he has never wanted them. However it could have been an issue.
As someone said " different strokes"0
